Shen Feng Courts Death

Shen Feng huffed and puffed.

He was about to explode with rage!

This man who had appeared out of nowhere was rude and obnoxious, and everything he wore put together cost less than Shen Feng's T-shirt. How dare he interfere in his affairs with Mu Nujiao?!

"I'm warning you one last time. Get lost!" Shen Feng roared, pointing at Zhou Sining.

Zhou Sining ignored him. "Idiot. I called the police. You're the one who should run."

Shen Feng froze, then blustered, "You were eavesdropping on us first! I was only warning you!"

Zhou Sining couldn't even be bothered to answer.

Where did this idiot come from?

Then again, he'd met plenty of characters during the six months he'd worked in the service industry in his previous life. Some had been worse than Shen Feng.

"You were lurking around suspiciously! How was I supposed to know whether you were a threat? It was self-defense!" Shen Feng denied it outright.

Zhou Sining's mouth twitched. A curse rose to his lips, but with the police standing right there, he held it back. "You can check the surveillance footage."

"He's right. Shen Feng did violate the Mage Convention," Mu Nujiao added.

"Mu Nujiao!" Shen Feng's expression changed.

Shocked and furious, he said, "You're betraying me for a man you've known less than ten minutes?!"

"Betraying you, my ass! What do you have to do with her? Keep spouting crap like that and you'll get your whole family killed!" Even Zhou Sining couldn't stand listening anymore.

Shen Feng had some nerve.

Mu Nujiao's face darkened. "I have nothing to do with you. And Mr. Shen Feng, I'll have the Mu Clan's legal department speak with you about defamation."

For the past year, Mu Nujiao had usually chosen to put up with Shen Feng's harassment.

"Could your legal department handle my case too?" Zhou Sining asked.

Mu Nujiao glanced at the lawyer, who nodded in confirmation.

"We can. The evidence is clear, so there's a good chance of winning. But no one was injured, so any sentence would be light."

"That's fine. I'll leave it to you. School starts soon, and I really don't have time to deal with a lawsuit," Zhou Sining said.

"Understood." The lawyer nodded.

The lawyer went to handle the matter. After giving their statements, Mu Nujiao and Zhou Sining prepared to leave.

As they walked out of the police station, Mu Nujiao suddenly turned to Zhou Sining. "Have we met before?"

"I've heard of you, but you definitely wouldn't know me." Zhou Sining smiled.

He turned to meet her gaze. "We met once half a year ago, outside Pearl Institute High School. Your friend mistook me for some lackey sent to harass you."

He'd happened to run into two well-known supporting characters from the original story, and they were both so beautiful. It would have been hard for Zhou Sining to forget.

Mu Nujiao really was beautiful. No wonder she'd become famous throughout Pearl Academy as a goddess on the day she enrolled.

Mu Nujiao thought for a moment, then smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry. I really don't remember."

"No worries. You're heading back to school, right? Want to go together?" Zhou Sining asked.

Mu Nujiao was a little curious. "Are you a new student at Pearl Academy too?"

"No, I got into Ancient Capital Academy. The environment there suits my development better. But my friend studies at Pearl Academy, so I'm going to visit him."

"I see." She nodded in understanding.

"I've called a car. If you don't mind, we can ride together." Zhou Sining pointed to the car that had just pulled up by the curb.

Mu Nujiao considered it, then accepted. "All right. I'll send you half the fare. WeChat or Alipay?"

"WeChat." Zhou Sining held out his QR code.

"Ding!"

Her friend request was accepted almost immediately, and she sent Zhou Sining her half of the fare.

By the time they reached Pearl Academy, it was almost ten thirty.

Magic City's nightlife was in full swing at that hour, but it was already late for a school.

Even the snack stalls by the gate were gone, let alone the students.

After getting out of the car, Mu Nujiao gave Zhou Sining a polite smile. "Pearl Academy closes its gates at eleven. If you want to find your friend, you'd better hurry."

"Got it. Thanks."

They walked into campus side by side, and Zhou Sining took out his phone to message Mo Fan.

After three to five minutes without a reply, he figured Mo Fan might be cultivating or taking a shower and left it at that.

He stopped. "I'll wait here for my friend. Will you be okay getting back on your own?"

"Yes, I'll be fine."

Mu Nujiao continued toward the women's dormitory. There were hardly any students around at ten thirty, but the streetlights kept the campus from feeling frightening.

She had just reached the park by the artificial lake when her phone rang. It was the lawyer.

"Miss, something's wrong! The mage named Shen Feng escaped, and he's heading for Pearl Academy!"

"Tell me exactly what happened."

"The police were still processing the case, so they could only keep Shen Feng in the lobby for the moment, though several officers were watching him. Ten minutes after you left, two strangers in black robes burst in and took him by force."

"By the time we reacted, they were gone."

"The police immediately checked nearby surveillance cameras. They were heading straight for Pearl Academy!"

"The police have already sent mages after them. Miss, please be careful."

Mu Nujiao frowned as she listened. "I understand."

After ending the call, she hurriedly opened her chat with Zhou Sining and told him Shen Feng had escaped.

If Shen Feng really was coming to Pearl Academy, his twisted personality meant he was bound to be looking for trouble with her and Zhou Sining.

And Zhou Sining was waiting for his friend by the school gate!

At the thought, Mu Nujiao immediately turned and hurried back toward the gate.
