In the end, Nan Jue led the team. She, Mo Fan, Mu Ningxue, Zhou Sining, Mu Nujiao, Zhao Manyan, Jiang Yu, and Jiang Shaoxu formed a group of eight, accepted the rescue mission, and headed for the Sahara Desert.
Ai Jiangtu took the remaining members to look for other missions and opportunities.
The eight soon reached the desert's edge.
Before them, fine golden sand stretched all the way to the horizon. Standing atop a high dune, they looked out over a view filled entirely with gold. Dunes of every height rose and fell across the landscape like a vast, rolling golden sea.
The area was quiet. There was no wind and no dust in the sky.
They crossed dune after dune toward the location indicated by the African International Magic Association.
Strictly speaking, this was not yet the Sahara Desert proper. It was only the outer desert belt, still relatively close to the Mediterranean Sea.
"The sand in the Sahara Desert proper is red. That area is called the Desert Maze. Apparently it has something to do with Chaos energy. Once you enter, you might think you've been walking in a straight line, but you'll have made who knows how many turns. That's why people say it's almost impossible to get out once you set foot in the Sahara Desert..." Nan Jue explained as they walked.
The Desert Maze was common knowledge, really. Search for "Sahara Desert" online, and it was bound to come up.
But with someone as ignorant of magic as Mo Fan on the team, a few extra words couldn't hurt. It was a reminder to herself, too.
