The sun had just begun to rise beyond the horizon. The sky was barely light, and the morning wind still carried a chill.
The vanguard, led by Nafen, set out without hesitation.
From the second camp, they headed straight for the Habo Pyramid's mirage, ten kilometers away.
Nafen flew at the front, with four Military Commanders behind him.
Frankly, it was anything but a sensible decision.
As the vanguard's strongest fighting force, they risked never coming back if they rushed toward the Habo Pyramid's mirage.
But Nafen knew he had to see it for himself.
An hour earlier, the scouting team had returned with a report: the Undead army had been all but wiped out, and the Habo Pyramid's mirage had vanished...
The report had stunned the entire army. No one dared believe it.
That was a Pyramid mirage, with an entire tribe-sized army of Undead!
How could they simply vanish?!
Nafen quickly thought of the violent disturbance that had lasted three whole minutes the night before. To be safe, he wanted to see it with his own eyes.
Normally, the closer they got to the Pyramid, the more Undead there would be, and the stronger they would become.
But the way ahead was clear.
Not a single Undead could be seen on the golden sand beneath the sunlight. Only the occasional desert creature poked its head out to look around.
It defied all reason!
Nafen and the others were Egyptians born and raised. They had lived through countless Pyramid mirages, but none had ever been like this.
After all, Pyramid mirages had never disappeared so quickly before.
They drew closer and closer to where the Habo Pyramid's mirage had stood.
Flying at the front, Nafen swept his gaze over the ground and stopped short.
