Ch. 381Clash at the Pinnacle (Part One)

Plot points and events

  • Zhe Luo reveals his Wind Slave Domain, which is difficult to detect and turns the force of an opponent’s spells into white tornadoes. Its boundary holds against Zhou Sining’s much more powerful Gangsha Domain.
  • Zhou Sining opens with a powerful fire attack, but Zhe Luo counters and follows with a compressed wind assault. Zhou meets it head-on, and the clash of fire and wind shakes the battlefield.
  • Weston intervenes with a devastating second-tier Silent Thunder Death Ray. Its power is amplified by his lightning Soul Seed and innate talent, trapping Zhou in a lightning cage and badly injuring him.
  • Zhou’s armor and winged magic tool help him survive, but his injuries disrupt his control of the Sea of Fire. Zhe Luo presses the advantage, shrinking Zhou’s Gangsha Domain to a small radius.
  • Zhe Luo summons Jue Eagle, a formidable Commander-level beast, to attack Zhou. Zhou tries to seize control of it with his Mind Element, but Weston’s Mind Guard cancels the spell. Zhou narrowly escapes Jue Eagle’s talons through Instantaneous Movement.

Character developments

  • Zhou Sining is shown to be exceptionally powerful and confident, but his tendency to meet attacks head-on leaves him vulnerable. He acknowledges underestimating Zhe Luo and Weston, and his composure falters when his Mind attack is countered.
  • Zhe Luo demonstrates that his subtle Wind Slave Domain and strategic timing make him a dangerous opponent, especially when Zhou is weakened.
  • Weston reveals immense lightning power and the ability to support Zhe Luo by protecting Jue Eagle from Zhou’s Mind magic.
  • Mo Fan gains a clearer sense of Weston’s strength and compares it with his own lightning abilities, realizing how formidable the British team is.
  • Ailin explains the opponents’ abilities, while Mu Nujiao shares the group’s concern for Zhou.

Significant themes

  • Power versus strategy: Zhou’s raw firepower is impressive, but Zhe Luo and Weston exploit timing, counters, and teamwork.
  • Hidden danger and misjudgment: Zhe Luo’s nearly imperceptible domain and Weston’s unexpectedly powerful lightning catch Zhou off guard.
  • Teamwork and layered defenses: Weston’s lightning attack and Mind Guard support Zhe Luo’s assault, while Zhou survives through his armor and wing tool.
  • Confidence and vulnerability: Zhou’s bravado helps drive his bold attacks but also leads him to underestimate his opponents.

Character interactions

  • Mo Fan asks Ailin about Zhe Luo’s domain and Weston’s lightning, relying on her explanations to assess the fight.
  • Zhou trades attacks with Zhe Luo, then admits he underestimated him as Zhe Luo continues pressing the advantage.
  • Weston’s lightning severely weakens Zhou, and Weston later prevents Zhou from controlling Jue Eagle, enabling Zhe Luo’s near-fatal follow-up.
  • The watching teammates worry over Zhou’s condition as the battle turns against him.

Ch. 382Clash at the summit (Part two)

Key events

  • Ailin reveals that she blocked Zhou Sining’s Mind Control and joins Zhe Luo and Weston because she refuses to leave her teammate fighting alone. Her intervention turns Zhou’s duel with Zhe Luo into a three-on-one assault.
  • Overwhelmed by the group’s rapid attacks, Zhou has little chance to use his domain or Advanced Magic. Mu Nujiao steps in to challenge Ailin, drawing her away from the main fight.
  • Mo Fan attacks Weston with powerful lightning spells and opens his Tyrant Wild Thunder Domain. Zhe Luo then returns to face Zhou Sining, while Mu Ningxue watches all three fights from above.
  • The conflict divides into three matchups: Zhou Sining vs. Zhe Luo, Mo Fan vs. Weston, and Mu Nujiao vs. Ailin. Commentators argue over whether Zhou’s early advantage—and his unrevealed Heavenly Flame Funeral—may still let him win.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ailin chooses loyalty to Zhe Luo over her friendship with Mo Fan, though she apologizes and explains her decision. She and Mu Nujiao exchange respectful remarks about each other’s abilities before becoming opponents.
  • Mo Fan had hoped to avoid conflict for Ailin’s sake, but once she intervenes, he commits to protecting Zhou. He challenges Weston while refusing Mu Ningxue’s offer to help, asking her instead to oversee the battles.
  • Mu Nujiao moves from spectator to combatant, confident that her Spiritual Power and defenses make her difficult for Ailin’s Mind Element to affect. Her Wind Element proves exceptionally strong, though she says it is not her primary element.
  • Zhou Sining is pushed onto the defensive by coordinated attacks, but Han Ji remains confident in him, pointing to his earlier performance and his powerful trump card.

Significant themes

  • Loyalty versus friendship: Ailin’s choice shows that personal ties do not erase responsibility to one’s teammate.
  • Escalation and divided loyalties: Once Ailin intervenes, Mo Fan and Mu Nujiao can no longer remain neutral, splitting the group into rival duels.
  • Skill, strategy, and hidden strength: The fighters rely on timing, domains, counters, and tactical positioning, while Mu Nujiao hints that her full abilities exceed what her Wind Element alone suggests.
  • Spectacle and rivalry: The battles are framed as contests among the best, with observers and crowds eagerly judging who will prevail.

Ch. 383Battle at the Peak

Plot points and events

  • Zhou Sining and Zhe Luo resume their duel across a vast battlefield, each projecting a Domain roughly one hundred meters wide. Their Advanced-level magic makes the fight far more intense than the other contests.
  • Zhe Luo’s Commander-level summon, Jue Eagle, attacks Zhou with a Hurricane Drill. Zhou stops it with Gravity, pins it into a crater, and tears off both its wings. The organizers cut the broadcast, but the injury shocks the spectators and enrages Zhe Luo.
  • Zhe Luo retaliates with Wind Wings, summoning seven huge Dark Gales that merge into a colossal tornado with a pull extending about two hundred meters. Mu Ningxue retreats from the danger.
  • Zhou uses his own Wings of Soaring Sky to escape, but Zhe Luo pursues him and blocks his route with Wind Disk: Heavenly Net. Zhe Luo’s Gate of Chaos reflects Zhou’s fire dragon, though Zhou manages to halt it.
  • As the tornado closes in, Zhou shoves Zhe Luo back with spatial force and completes an Advanced-level spell: Gangsha: Heavenly Flame Funeral: Thousand Flames Burn the Heavens. The excerpt ends before its effect is shown.

Character developments

  • Zhou Sining reveals how formidable he is: his Space Element is as powerful as his already exceptional Fire Element, and his control, Spiritual Power, and defensive abilities let him withstand Zhe Luo’s attacks. He fights more strategically than before, but his treatment of Jue Eagle is brutally merciless.
  • Zhe Luo proves himself a top-tier Wind mage with powerful control over both his own magic and Zhou’s attacks. Losing Jue Eagle—the summon he cared for most—turns his competitive aggression into fury.
  • Mu Ningxue recognizes that the two men far exceed most contestants, and Zhou’s display of power astonishes her.

Significant themes

  • The extreme cost of power: High-level magic can devastate both the battlefield and living creatures.
  • Rivalry and retaliation: Zhou’s attack on Jue Eagle makes the duel deeply personal, escalating Zhe Luo’s response.
  • Strategic mastery: The fighters counter and adapt to each other’s strengths, making timing and control as important as raw power.

Character interactions

  • Zhou and Zhe Luo exchange taunts and attacks, each trying to disrupt the other while evading the tornado.
  • Zhou’s attack on Jue Eagle provokes Zhe Luo’s furious vow to kill him; Zhe Luo then uses the colossal tornado to trap and pressure Zhou.
  • Mu Ningxue watches the duel from above, while the tournament organizers interrupt the broadcast after Jue Eagle’s injury.

Ch. 384First Place!

Key plot points and events

  • Zhou Sining unleashes a Level Four Heavenly Flame Funeral, creating an enormous inverted sea of fire. Zhe Luo counters with Firmament Gale, restoring his Giant Mountain Tornado, but Zhou’s attack overwhelms both the wind magic and Zhe Luo’s Gate of Chaos.
  • Zhe Luo stops resisting, recognizing that Zhou’s Fire, Space, and Mind Elements counter his abilities. Though Zhou cannot recall the released fireballs, he carefully redirects most of them; only a few hit the ground, while the rest set a forest across the river ablaze.
  • Zhe Luo concedes defeat. Zhou explains that he redirected the attack to spare Zhe Luo and the people below. The other teams’ ground battles have already ended.
  • Before being escorted from the Treasure Hunting Space, Zhe Luo asks Zhou not to harm Ailin or Weston. Zhou agrees to leave the British Team alone.
  • Back outside the competition, Zhou’s mentor, Han Ji, celebrates the victory, confident that Zhou’s strength can no longer be doubted.

Character developments and interactions

  • Zhou Sining proves why he holds first place in the fighter rankings. He shows overwhelming power, but also restraint and control, diverting a potentially devastating attack to protect others. He sincerely praises Zhe Luo and treats him warmly after the fight.
  • Zhe Luo moves from disbelief and hope of victory to full recognition of Zhou’s superiority. He remains proud, but accepts the loss with humor and acknowledges Zhou as a formidable opponent. His final request shows concern for his teammates.
  • Their fierce duel ends on respectful, almost friendly terms: Zhou reassures Zhe Luo, and Zhe Luo openly admits defeat.

Significant themes

  • True strength and earned recognition: Zhou’s performance confirms his ranking, while Zhe Luo’s determination makes the victory meaningful.
  • Power balanced by responsibility: Zhou’s careful redirection of the fireballs shows that mastery includes limiting collateral damage.
  • Respect in competition: Despite their conflict, both fighters recognize each other’s ability and part amicably.
  • Pride and acceptance: Zhe Luo lets go of his belief that he might be the competition’s central contender and accepts the result.

Ch. 385Taking a Day Off

Summary

The narrator says they have been busy running around all day and announces that they’re taking a day off.

  • Plot and events: No story events occur beyond the narrator’s decision to rest after a hectic day.
  • Character development: The narrator briefly reveals feeling worn out and sets a boundary by taking time off.
  • Themes: Rest, fatigue, and the need to pause after being busy.
  • Character interactions: The narrator addresses readers directly; no other characters appear.

Ch. 386The Reason Was That?

Plot points and events

  • After fighting Zhe Luo and Weston, Zhou Sining returns to find Mo Fan, Mu Nujiao, Ailin, and Weston badly exhausted. Mu Nujiao and Ailin had stopped their duel before either was seriously hurt.
  • Zhou Sining says he promised Zhe Luo not to attack the British team. He and the others give Mo Fan and Weston potions, then use Pupil Eagles to locate the British team’s Healing Mage.
  • The healer restores the group, while Zhou explains that he attacked Zhe Luo and Weston because he had been robbed by other teams and wanted to clear out potential threats. He has already eliminated Poland and plans to deal with Canada and the United States.
  • Zhou and Mu Nujiao leave to continue their hunt. Mo Fan regrets losing Zhou as an ally, but Zhou refuses to join his team.
  • Ailin chooses to stay with Mo Fan’s group and invites Weston to join her. Weston declines, concerned about appearances, and the Healing Mage goes with him.

Character developments and interactions

  • Zhou is powerful but not malicious: despite the brutal fight, he honors his promise to Zhe Luo and helps the British team recover. His explanation leaves Weston furious at the absurd bad luck behind their clash.
  • Mo Fan wins a hard-fought duel with Weston by drawing on his broader range of abilities and his summoned companions, though he is left badly injured.
  • Mu Nujiao and Ailin show mutual respect after their interrupted duel, acknowledging that neither had a clear advantage.
  • Ailin is warm and independent, choosing companionship with Mo Fan’s group over concern for public opinion. Weston remains more cautious and parts ways with her.

Significant themes

  • Misunderstanding and chance: Zhou’s fight with the British team stems not from personal hostility but from the misfortune of encountering them after being robbed by others.
  • Honor and trust: Zhou keeps his word to Zhe Luo and follows through on helping the injured.
  • Different priorities: Ailin follows her own preference, while Weston worries about reputation and propriety.
  • Strength and cooperation: The fights are brutal, but recovery and assistance depend on the teams’ ability to work together.

Ch. 387Semifinals

Plot points and events

  • Zhou Sining and Mu Nujiao stop hunting rival contestants and focus on gathering resources. Earlier, Zhou had eliminated 72 contestants, wiping out the teams from Finland, Japan, Canada, and the United States and heavily weakening many others.
  • Using the Pupil Eagle to find treasure and Zhou’s strength to clear away Demon Beasts, the pair collect resources worth 4.3 billion, the highest total in the competition. Zhou also gains nearly 70,000 Life Points.
  • Zhou plans to spend his accumulated Life Points on a powerful Innate Talent to amplify his magic, hoping to bridge the gap between his current strength and that of Super Level Magicians.
  • China finishes first in the rankings by a wide margin, with Zhou Sining, Mu Nujiao, Mo Fan, and Mu Ningxue all bringing in more than two billion in resources. The United States reaches the Top Eight on treasure points despite losing its entire team.
  • The semifinal bracket puts China against Germany and the United Kingdom against France. China’s mentors worry about the prospect of facing Britain next. Zhou suggests they consider conceding, warning that Britain’s coordinated team and likely countermeasures make it far more dangerous than a one-on-one opponent.

Character developments and interactions

  • Zhou Sining shows restraint when Mu Nujiao stops him from attacking Zu Jiming and his companions. He is mindful of how further attacking his own teammates would look, even as he remains dismissive of public criticism. His ambition shifts toward strengthening his magic through an Innate Talent.
  • Mu Nujiao acts as Zhou’s calming influence, steering him away from needless conflict and back toward the competition’s objectives.
  • Zhou and the mentors disagree over Britain: the mentors resist the idea of conceding, while Zhou stresses that a team battle is different from fighting an individual and refuses to promise an easy victory.
  • China’s leadership celebrates Zhou’s effectiveness but is also disappointed when he ends his contestant hunt.

Significant themes

  • Individual power versus teamwork: Zhou can overwhelm opponents alone, but he recognizes that Britain’s coordinated team could neutralize that advantage.
  • Reputation and restraint: Zhou cares little about online criticism, yet Mu Nujiao’s intervention reminds him that attacking allies would damage his standing.
  • Strength and ambition: The contest’s rewards feed Zhou’s drive to grow stronger and challenge the vast gap between ordinary and Super Level magic.
  • Competition’s consequences: Zhou’s dominance reshapes the tournament, eliminating entire national teams and making the remaining matchups feel increasingly uneven.

Ch. 388Not a High Enough Level

Zhou Sining secluded himself to cultivate and chose which innate talents to buy, then returned in time to learn that his team would face Britain despite injuries from the Germany match. He accepted the decision and remained confident they could win.

  • Zhou Sining bought Double Magic Energy and Accelerated Release for his Summoning System and Mind Element, saving his remaining Life Points toward a more powerful talent.
  • Zhou Sining discovered that the System Shop had limited stock and wondered whether higher system levels would unlock more goods, which motivated him to cultivate.
  • Zhou Sining trained intensely and skipped the team's match against Germany, which Mo Fan, Ai Jiangtu, Mu Nujiao, and Mu Ningxue handled.
  • After finishing his cultivation, Zhou Sining criticized Feng Li and the other mentors for insisting the team compete against Britain after the Germany match.
  • Han Ji, Grand Speaker Shao Zheng, Chairman Min Wu, and Chief Pang Lai arrived, and Mu Nujiao explained that the team was healthy enough to fight with Zhou Sining filling Mo Fan's spot.
  • Zhou Sining agreed to compete against Britain and said he was confident the team could win.

Ch. 389Throwing Accusations

Zhou Sining learned the team was ready to face the United Kingdom and accepted Grand Speaker Shao Zheng’s demand that they win, though he asked what reward he would receive. When Zu Jiming accused him of disloyalty and special treatment, Zhou Sining exposed the political motives behind the attack and cited Shao Zheng’s authorization for Han Ji to treat him; Zu Huiyin stepped in to defend her nephew.

  • Zhou Sining learned that the team’s key fighters were recovered and agreed to face the United Kingdom.
  • Shao Zheng praised Zhou Sining and demanded that the team win, while Zhou Sining asked about a reward.
  • Zu Jiming accused Zhou Sining of resenting the country’s arrangements and insulting the instructors.
  • Zhou Sining suggested Zu Jiming was using his aunt Zu Huiyin’s position to frame him, then countered Zu Jiming’s accusation of special treatment by citing the Red-Label File authorizing Han Ji to treat him.
  • Shao Zheng confirmed he had signed the file, silencing Zu Jiming.
  • Zhou Sining accused Zu Jiming of maligning Han Ji, and Zu Huiyin stepped forward to defend her nephew.

Ch. 390You should apologize

Zhou Sining clashed with Zu Huiyin and Zu Jiming after Zu Huiyin publicly called him ill-intentioned, and he demanded an apology. Ch. 392An endless downpour

China and the United Kingdom began their match at the Plains Arena, where Zhou Sining opened with a devastating Level Four Heavenly Flame Funeral. The British team weathered the endless rain of fire behind Ailin’s defenses and Zhe Luo’s Gates of Chaos, but Ailin’s Magic Energy was rapidly running low.

  • Before the match, Zhou Sining assigned his teammates targets while Zhe Luo instructed the British team to pin Zhou Sining down and protect Ailin.
  • When the countdown ended, Zhou Sining immediately cast a Level Four Heavenly Flame Funeral over the arena.
  • Ailin summoned her Azure Wave Domain and layered her Water Curtain Sky with several defensive spells to shelter the British team.
  • Some fireballs penetrated Ailin’s defenses, so Zhe Luo opened Gates of Chaos to make them disappear.
  • As Zhou Sining’s Flame Rain continued without letting up, Ailin’s Magic Energy dwindled and Juliet panicked.

Ch. 393A Maelstrom of Public Opinion

Zhou Sining overwhelmed the British Team with a Level Four Heavenly Flame, then let the team struggle through the blaze while online accusations against him escalated. Zhe Luo and Weston launched a counterattack, and Mo Fan was left enduring Weston's lightning strike as the battle continued.

  • Zhou Sining withdrew his magic after unleashing a vast Sea of Fire, leaving the Chinese Team safe while the British Team struggled to extinguish the flames.
  • Footage of Zhou Sining's attack spread online, and accusations that his extraordinary strength came from illegitimate means intensified after details of his argument with Zu Huiyin were leaked.

  • Zhe Luo rescued Ailin and the others, absorbed the Azure Thunder Claw with his Gate of Chaos, and sent it back at the Chinese Team.

  • Zhe Luo summoned the Wind-Fire Thunder Roc and pursued Mu Nujiao and Mu Ningxue while Ailin and Barrett repeatedly disrupted Zhou Sining.
  • A broadcast director noted that Juliet had not appeared on the battlefield.

Ch. 395The British Team's Counterattack (Part Two)

The Chinese and British teams traded eliminations as Juliet’s ambush and the British team’s entrance ambush shifted the match. The chapter left five competitors in the arena, with the outcome still uncertain.

  • Mo Fan held off Weston with overlapping domains while Ai Jiangtu returned to help Zhou Sining defeat Barrett and Ailin, eliminating both British competitors.

After the match, Zhou Sining rejected Zu Huiyin and Zu Jiming’s apologies and learned that Dongfang Lie would replace Zu Jiming on the National Team. In the hospital, he reassured Mu Nujiao and looked forward to facing Egypt’s undead, unaware until she explained that the tournament format could make them fight Egypt twice.
