Passing Mo Fan's room, Mo Xie stopped. He stared at the closed door for a few seconds, then turned and opened it.

The room was dark. Mo Fan lay on the bed, fast asleep.

Mo Xie walked to the window and yanked the curtains open. Dazzling sunlight poured in, instantly driving away the darkness.

Mo Fan frowned as the light reached him. He pulled the blanket over his head, rolled into a new position, and went back to sleep.

Mo Xie's eye twitched. He took a few deep breaths, then whipped the blanket away.

Without the blanket to protect him, Mo Fan sat straight up. He stared blankly at Mo Xie, with no idea what had happened.

"What is it, bro?"

It took Mo Fan a long moment to get the question out.

"You're asking me what it is?" Mo Xie looked at his dazed face, at a loss for words. "Get up. Breakfast will be ready soon."

"Oh."

Realizing his brother had come to wake him, Mo Fan slowly began to get dressed.

"Bro, next time you wake me up, could you be a little gentler?"

"Gentler?"

Mo Xie raised an eyebrow. Cold Aura gathered around his hand, and frost spread across it.

"I wouldn't mind trying another way to wake you."

"!"

Mo Fan's most terrifying memory rushed back, and he began to tremble.

"No, no need! Sorry for the trouble, bro. I'll get up right now."

Mo Fan sprang out of bed and dashed into the bathroom to wash up.

Mo Xie sighed softly, then went downstairs to make breakfast.

Everyone had things to do. Mo Jiaxing, for example, had to leave for work after breakfast.

Mo Xie had persuaded Mo Jiaxing to quit his old job, where he'd had to depend on others, and had opened a flower shop for him in Bo City.

Since the shop opened, Mo Jiaxing had devoted himself to growing and tending its flowers. Business had always been good, and the shop was close to becoming a local landmark.

Mo Jiaxing truly had a gift for flowers. He had grown the jasmine in the courtyard himself.

Ye Xinxia liked to sit on the swing by the door and read. Apparently, she had picked up her habit of sunbathing from Mo Xie. Like him, she never tanned, no matter how long she stayed in the sun.

After washing the dishes and scattering feed for the goldfish in the pond, Mo Xie headed to his study in the attic.

When the villa was designed, the top-floor attic had been left unused, so Mo Xie had made it his study.

He brewed a cup of jasmine tea, took a book on Ancient Magic History from the shelf, and settled into a chair to read.

Gentle sunlight streamed through the attic skylight, warming Mo Xie. But the peace was short-lived. Before he could enjoy it for long, Mo Fan shoved the study door open.

"I told you to knock before coming in, Xiao Fan. Have you forgotten?" Mo Xie said, lowering his gaze as he took a sip of jasmine tea.

Mo Fan strode up to him and planted both hands on the desk, his expression unusually serious.

"Bro, there's something I need to tell you," Mo Fan said.

"Mm."

Mo Xie acknowledged him without looking up from his book.

"I want to study Magic."

Mo Xie’s hand froze halfway to turning the page. He stiffly raised his head and stared at Mo Fan, his eyes full of shock and disbelief.

"What did you say?!"

Study Magic... Mo Fan wanted to study Magic?!

Mo Xie shook his head, unable to believe those words had actually come from Mo Fan’s mouth.

"Xiao Fan, did you say you want to study Magic?" Mo Xie asked again.

"Yeah. Is there a problem?"

Mo Fan scratched his head. He didn't understand why his brother was so surprised. What was wrong with wanting to study Magic seriously?

Mo Xie leaned back in his chair and tried to calm down. Mo Fan was his younger brother. How could Mo Xie not know him?

Mo Fan had once ranked near the top of his class, but only because Mo Xie had pushed him. He'd never truly wanted to study. Of course Mo Xie found it hard to believe he was saying this now.

Still, it made sense. The Mo Fan before him had never touched Magic, so he had no real idea what it was.

Mo Xie gathered his thoughts before speaking. "I thought you didn't want to be a mage. Didn't you once boldly declare, 'If I ever study Magic, I'll jump off the sixth floor of the school'?"

Mo Fan cringed. He couldn't believe his younger self had been reckless enough to challenge the ground to see which of them was harder.

"To think I'll lose my little brother at such a young age. What a tragedy."

Mo Xie raised his head and put a hand to his forehead, speaking with a mournful expression.

"Bro, I've really changed my mind. I truly want to study Magic."

Mo Fan sounded helpless. Wasn't his brother being a little dramatic?

Mo Fan had learned the basics of this Magic world online. Now he genuinely wanted to get into a Magic high school, awaken his Magic, become a mage, and wield supreme power.

He had already given his former self a thorough scolding. Given the chance to be a mage, he'd wanted to be a scientist instead. What an idiot.

And after learning from his memories that his older brother, Mo Xie, had awakened the Three Elements on his own a year earlier, Mo Fan wanted to study Magic even more.

What mage wouldn't want Lightning in one hand, Flame in the other, and Ice beneath his feet?

"All right, all right. I know you've seen the light."

Mo Xie stopped teasing Mo Fan and waved a hand with a smile.

"Isn't 'seen the light' a bit much?" Mo Fan retorted helplessly.

Mo Xie ignored the complaint. "If you've decided to study seriously, you need to act on it. Go through all your textbooks first. Your foundation is good, but I'd feel better if you reviewed it."

"Okay. I'll start now."

Mo Fan nodded. He wanted to reread the textbooks anyway.

"You can read them here. Once you're done, I'll explain everything to you," Mo Xie said, pointing to another desk.

Mo Fan hurried downstairs, brought his textbooks up to the study, and sat off to one side to read.

Mo Xie glanced up now and then. Seeing how focused Mo Fan was, he nodded with satisfaction. Just knowing Mo Fan was willing to study hard would keep him happy for a long time.

Over the next two days, Mo Fan reviewed the basics. He had nearly finished absorbing all his memories, so getting a good grade shouldn't be a problem.

Once those memories had fully settled, the Mo Fan of the Science Plane had truly become the Mo Fan of the Magic Plane.

When Ye Xinxia and Mo Jiaxing learned that Mo Fan had begun studying seriously, they were as astonished as Mo Xie. More than anything, though, they were happy.

And so Mo Fan's two-day break flew by in a sea of textbooks.
