Magic City, North Country Club.
At the center of the club was a lounge bar. Dim lighting and dark red floor lamps made it look as though a glowing red carpet had been laid across it.
The lounge bar had a European style. Elk heads hung on walls painted with religious imagery, and silver goblets and cutlery were displayed beside the long Bar Counter. Even the Bartender was a handsome Westerner.
At the Bar Counter, Nie Dong swiftly drained the drink the Bartender handed him, not leaving a drop. He poured it straight down his throat, as though he needed courage for what he was about to do.
"Damn it. Who the hell is after me? If I'd known, I would've killed that kid on the spot. He probably didn't see my face... This is so frustrating. No prey has ever slipped through my fingers."
He set his glass on the Bar Counter and muttered to himself.
He failed to notice a harmless-looking little girl not far away in the Bar, sipping juice while secretly watching him.
This was a club for the wealthy, with several villa communities nearby. Rich people often brought their children here, so a child in the Bar was nothing unusual.
Just then, a distinguished-looking middle-aged man walked over and asked with a smile,
"What's a pretty little girl like you doing here all alone?"
Leng Lingling looked up. Her eyes, bright with hidden intelligence, grew watery, making her look every bit an innocent little girl.
She pouted her small lips and grumbled,
"I hate studying Magic. There are endless questions every day. Why do grown-ups get to come here and drink while we kids have to study all that boring stuff? I want a drink too, but that annoying foreigner won't let me order one."
