After a night's rest, Liu Xian looked much better. Some color had returned to her pretty face.
The doctor examined her and found nothing seriously wrong. She just needed a day or two of proper rest.
Mo Xie thought she should stay in the hospital another day, but Liu Xian insisted on going home, so he let her have her way.
After completing the discharge paperwork, Mo Xie accepted the sisters' warm invitation to visit their home.
It was not far from the hospital. They entered an old street and came to a house connected to its row of shops.
To reach the house, they had to pass through a narrow alley that led around to its front door.
The house had only two floors. Its street-facing side housed a few snack shops and some elegant-looking clothing stores.
Flowers filled the second floor, and ivy climbed the walls, adding a touch of color to the old house. It seemed like a comfortable place to live.
There was a small courtyard behind it, too. Vines hung from grape trellises, their branches swaying gently in the breeze.
This was Liu Xian and Liu Ru's home, a place well suited to a quiet life.
"Please come in, my savior. The place is a little small, so I hope you won't mind."
"Why would I? And stop calling me your savior. Just call me Mo Xie."
She opened the door to a modest room. Apart from the bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and bathroom, there was nothing else.
Leaning against the wall, Liu Xian took off her heels. She smoothed her hands over her fitted skirt and crouched by the shoe cabinet, revealing the curve of her hips.
