Summer vacation lasted a little over two months. It was neither long nor short.
For Mo Xie, it had been fairly productive.
He had gradually gained a thorough grasp of the fundamentals in the basic forging manual.
He had become proficient in both forging methods and techniques, as well as the circulation of Magic Energy.
The times when he accidentally drained his Magic Energy completely had grown fewer and fewer.
Thanks to his forging practice, his Lightning Element and Fire Element mana had also grown more abundant and concentrated.
If nothing unexpected happened, his Fire Element would break through to Basic Level Two ahead of his Ice Element.
In his next round of forging practice, Mo Xie could try making delicate magical tools and artifacts such as pendants, bracelets, and rings.
[Host]: Mo Xie [Talents]: Innate Three Elements (Advanced Level One Three-Element Awakening), Super Intuition, Peerless Beauty, God-Tier Musical Talent [Elements]: Lightning Element (Basic Level Two), Fire Element (Basic Level One), Ice Element (Basic Level One) [Skills]: Two-Tomoe Sharingan, Basic Swordsmanship [Spatial Backpack]: Qilin Pendant (Mortal Grade), Mana-Congealing Necklace, Tang Dao, Spatial Ring (5 × 5 × 5 cubic meters)
Early that morning, Mo Xie swung his Tang Dao in the courtyard as usual.
"9,997."
"9,998."
"9,999."
"10,000."
Mo Xie wiped away his sweat and let out a long breath before setting down the Tang Dao.
After finishing his sword practice, he went back to his room for a shower, changed into a clean school uniform, and hurried to wake Mo Fan.
Today was September first, the first day of school for magic high schools across the country, including Tianlan Magic High School. They couldn't afford to sleep in.
After Mo Xie made breakfast, Mo Fan dragged himself downstairs, ate a few slices of toast, drank a glass of milk, then hurried out of the house on his bicycle.
Mo Xie wheeled out his bicycle too and took Ye Xinxia to her school.
Only after leaving Ye Xinxia with her classmates did he head off, his mind at ease.
Tianlan Magic High School and Mingwen Girls' Middle School lay in completely different directions, so Mo Xie had to travel half as far again.
He checked the time on his watch and calculated that he should still arrive on time.
"Not bad-looking, beautiful! Lift your head and let me have a look!"
A shrill, thoroughly sleazy voice came from a nearby park.
Mo Xie frowned at the sound, hit the brakes, and looked over.
Inside a pavilion in the park, five fashionably dressed thugs had surrounded what appeared to be a young woman.
She didn't spare them a glance and kept playing with her phone as though nothing were happening.
"Well, look at that. The beauty's got an attitude!"
The one who appeared to be their leader spoke with a grin.
"Boss, look at her! Those breasts, that ass, those legs—she's a knockout. Shouldn't we make her our sister-in-law?"
One of the thugs offered the suggestion in an ingratiating tone.
"Mm. You're right."
The leader stole another look at the woman and couldn't help swallowing.
Those long, shapely legs in black stockings were right in front of him. If she wrapped them around his waist, he'd be in heaven!
The leader had made up his mind: he could enjoy those legs for the rest of his life!
The woman frowned. The thugs' conversation had clearly made her uncomfortable, and flames seemed to burn in her beautiful eyes.
Just then, something whistled through the air beside them. A stone struck the leader square in the head, and he dropped on the spot.
"Boss!"
The other thugs cried out in alarm.
"Fuck! Which blind bastard did that?"
Clutching his head, the leader staggered to his feet and roared at the surroundings.
"Me. What about it?"
Mo Xie strolled over, tossing a stone in his hand.
"Who the hell are you, kid? Do you know you just hit our boss?"
One of the thugs stepped forward and shouted.
The leader smacked his underling on the head, then pointed furiously at Mo Xie.
"Quit talking and beat the shit out of him!"
At their boss's order, the underlings grabbed their weapons and charged at Mo Xie.
Mo Xie gave a disdainful laugh and snapped his hand forward, sending the stones flying.
Several sharp whistles cut through the air. Four stones struck the four thugs in their kneecaps.
All four collapsed, clutching their knees and howling in pain.
The leader hurried back a few steps. Only now did he realize he had picked a fight with the wrong person.
The woman in the pavilion watched intently. Judging by the force of the stones, the boy's technique was remarkably precise.
Too light, and the blows would barely sting; too heavy, and they might have broken bones.
"You're the only one left. Still want to try?"
Mo Xie tossed a few more stones in his hand as he looked at the leader.
"N-no! We're leaving right now!"
The leader helped his four underlings up, and they scrambled out of the park.
Once the thugs were gone, Mo Xie walked slowly toward the pavilion.
The thugs had blocked his view earlier. Now that they were out of the way, he finally saw the woman's face clearly.
She had a beautifully sculpted oval face, bright eyes that seemed to sparkle, a high, elegant nose, enticing red lips, fair skin with a rosy glow, and alluring, foxlike eyes.
Long, glossy black hair fell naturally over a red jacket worn atop a white shirt.
Beneath her white pleated skirt, black tights covered her long, slender legs completely.
In the sunlight, the tights faintly revealed the color of her skin, nearly turning transparent. The sight was captivating.
The woman crossed her legs with easy grace. The stocking-clad legs rested together at an eye-catching angle, their slight bend showing not a trace of excess flesh.
Most striking of all was her figure, one that girls in the midst of adolescence could only envy. No wonder the thugs had harassed her.
At the sight of her face and figure, Mo Xie recalled something from years ago.
As a child, he seemed to have told several girls that his ideal type looked just like the woman before him.
Given a choice between a youthful high school girl his own age and a mature woman like her—gentle, considerate, sensible, and good at caring for others—Mo Xie would undoubtedly choose the latter.
He didn't understand why he was so drawn to women a little older than himself. Maybe he just liked older women?
"What are you looking at, little brother?"
The woman interrupted his thoughts, resting her chin in her palm as she smiled at him.
She wasn't angry about the way Mo Xie looked at her. His gaze was innocent and clear, without a trace of improper intent.
Putting aside those with bad intentions, no woman would reject someone appreciating her looks and figure. It was a form of affirmation and praise.
Besides, she had developed a little interest in this boy who had saved her and dressed like a girl.
"Nothing. Are you all right?"
Mo Xie came back to himself and rubbed the back of his head as he asked.
The woman smiled and shook her head.
"I'm fine. But are you sure you are?"
"Me?"
Mo Xie didn't understand what she meant. He hadn't been hurt.
"What could be wrong with me?"
"You're a student, aren't you? Should you really still be here instead of going to school?"
The woman pointed to his uniform, giving him the answer.
Mo Xie blinked. His brain seemed to shut down for a moment.
"Crap, I'm going to be late!"
It took him a few seconds to react. He had wasted time here, and now he had very little left.
He did not want to be late on the first day of school.
"Pfft!"
Watching Mo Xie hurry away in a panic, the woman couldn't help laughing.
"Pretty cute. But..."
A sharp look flashed in her eyes as she recalled the way Mo Xie had moved.
Though he had acted in an instant, she had keenly sensed a faint fluctuation of Magic Energy.
That boy could use magic!
There was nothing unusual about a magic high school student using magic. But what if he was a new student?
Today was the first day of school, and judging by the boy's uniform, he probably was a new student.
The uniform looked brand-new, without the creases that came from prolonged wear. Of course, he might simply have bought a new one.
But she wanted to prepare for the worst. She couldn't overlook any possible clue.
"Looks like I need to look into him. Tianlan Magic High School..."
