The sun gradually sank, and the moon rose high into the sky. Beneath the bright moon and sparse stars, hardly anyone walked the streets of Bai Town. Everyone was too frightened of the plague to leave home.

Just then, another guard wearing the same Palace Guard Captain's uniform spat. With a foxtail grass stem clenched between his teeth, he curled his lip, glared resentfully at a hotel in town, and snorted.
"Hmph. If you ask me, who knows what those two bastards are getting up to? What rotten luck!"
"Enough. Cut the snide remarks and keep a close watch. Something about this feels wrong."
The man addressed as "Boss" frowned, rubbing his chin as he stared at the hotel where Mo Xie and Tang Yue were staying.
Shortly after Mo Xie and Tang Yue registered their identities, the guards had received orders to head to Bai Town to intercept and arrest them.
The quarantine barrier suddenly erected that day was an unexpected stroke of luck. It made the arrests much easier, sparing them the need to deploy more men throughout the town.
