About a hundred years ago, two very famous Hidden Clans near Carp City were renowned for their ancient magic and formidable strength: Xiayu and Mingwu Ancient City.
Mages who emerged from either of the two Hidden Clans were exceptional!
But the Xiayu Hidden Clan offended the ruler of the time. The people on Xiayu were lured off the island and slaughtered almost to the last person, leaving the site of the Xiayu Hidden Clan unknown.
To avoid being implicated, the people of Mingwu Ancient City began admitting outsiders. They turned it into an ordinary town near Carp City and no longer dared call themselves a Hidden Clan.
After that ruler died, newcomers had gradually assimilated Mingwu Ancient City. The few remaining members of the Mingwu Hidden Clan refused to let both Hidden Clans disappear, so they began searching for Xiayu, intending to leave the city behind.
They knew Xiayu had the Earth Sacred Spring. If they found that blessed land, they could surely restore the two Hidden Clans to their former glory.
Besides, the sculptures were the only things of real value in Mingwu Ancient City. Moving them to the more secluded Xiayu would effectively unite the two once-mightiest Hidden Clans. They could protect themselves in troubled times while raising new experts!
So when they found the site of Xiayu and discovered the Earth Sacred Spring, the remaining members of Mingwu's Hidden Clan immediately relocated there, taking the ancient city's most important Ancient Sculpture with them.
But moving that Ancient Sculpture brought down a vast Heavenly Tribulation. Thunderstorms lashed the land around Carp City, leaving its people in misery.
Fearing another catastrophe, they promptly blamed everything on the Totem, erased every trace they could, and fled to Xiayu.
