The sun slowly sank behind the hills, and the fiery sunset painted the entire lake red. Light shimmered across the water.
The two walked along the wooden bridge, their shadows stretching far behind them.
Ding Yumian carried a bucket full of fish, her face bright with happiness.
"I've taught you these fishing tricks, so you can catch fish on your own from now on. You won't have to worry about coming home empty-handed."
Mo Xie walked ahead, carrying a bucket full of fish himself.
"Mm-hmm! Thank you! This is enough fish to feed Grandma and me for ages!"
Looking at the fish swimming in her bucket, Ding Yumian couldn't stop smiling.
She had caught every fish in that bucket herself after learning his techniques. The bucket, filled to the brim, was proof of how quickly she learned.
The thought that she and Grandma would have fish to eat for days made her smile even wider.
Mo Xie glanced back at Ding Yumian and couldn't help laughing.
There was something adorably goofy about the way she grinned, like a lovable little fool.
In truth, he had been surprised to see her catch a whole bucket of fish.
He had only taught her for a short while, yet she had picked it up so quickly. She clearly had a gift for learning.
And teaching her a way to feed herself was far more practical than simply catching fish for her.
There had been an easier method, of course: she could have used her Psychic Element abilities to make the fish take the bait.
That would have been far faster than waiting for a bite.
But Mo Xie didn't want to tell her. Using Magic would have taken away some of the satisfaction and joy of doing it herself.
