The instant Uchiha Mikoto saw Uchiha Yin, her eyes lit up with delight.
But it lasted only a moment before her face turned aggrieved.
They knew he needed to take care of Konan. Even so, watching the man they longed for spend day and night at another woman's side hurt.
The look on Mikoto's face made Yin's heart ache.
He gave her a helpless smile. "I'm sorry. Come here."
He opened his arms and looked at her tenderly.
Mikoto had meant to stay huffy a little longer, but she could not resist the tenderness in his eyes.
She hurried over and threw herself into his arms.
Wrapping both arms tightly around his waist, she buried her face against his chest and breathed in his familiar, untamed scent.
Yin patted her back fondly and softly apologized.
He had always felt he owed Mikoto. She was the first woman to be with him, yet she was also the one he most easily overlooked.
The two were lost in their reunion, giving no thought to Kurotsuchi standing beside them.
Kurotsuchi had missed Yin terribly, too. The moment he appeared, she had smiled and wanted to rush to him.
But Mikoto had beaten her to it. All Kurotsuchi could do was stand there and watch, her heart aching.
Mikoto had taken such good care of her while Yin was away that, however hurt Kurotsuchi felt, she said nothing.
Yin glanced up and saw Kurotsuchi standing to one side, downcast, her eyes lowered.
