Chapter 655: Seizing the Chance to Gather Intelligence
Shikaku Nara knew the Kumogakure delegation was bound to make a move tonight. His job now was to put them at ease so they would gather intelligence without their guard up.
Samui turned her head slightly and saw Shikaku Nara following them. Her expression did not change; she had clearly expected it.
She would have found it strange if Shikaku Nara had not come along.
Shikaku Nara kept smiling all the way to the inn. After seeing Samui inside, he turned to leave.
As he went, he added as if it had just occurred to him, "It's still early. If you're bored, feel free to look around. The taverns nearby are quite good!"
The Kumogakure delegation had been struggling to find an excuse to go out, so his considerate, polite suggestion delighted them. They still pretended to take it in stride.
Shikaku Nara turned away, his face breaking into the smile of a man whose scheme had worked.
Everything Shikaku Nara had done and said today had seemed casual, as though it had happened naturally.
In truth, he had carefully laid out a path, leading the delegation straight into the trap waiting for them.
Uchiha Yin watched Samui leave, a faint, unreadable smile still on his face. When Minato Namikaze jumped through the window into the Hokage Office, that was the expression he found waiting for him.
In an instant, Uchiha Yin's easy smile twisted into a look of disgust.
Uchiha Yin was at a loss over Minato Namikaze's increasingly brazen entrances, but he had no desire to argue. He glanced at him and said, "Thanks for handling the rest. I'm heading back. I'll be here for tomorrow's meeting!"
With that, he used Space-Time Ninjutsu and vanished on the spot.
