Meanwhile, at a hotel in Konoha, the Kumogakure group returned one after another in different disguises and went into their rooms.
They thought they had covered their tracks perfectly, but the ANBU stationed nearby had seen everything.
Even so, the ANBU could not act. The visitors had merely gone out; they had done nothing to attack Konoha.
Nor had the ANBU received any signals from their comrades. They had no grounds to arrest the group and could only keep watch.
The Anbu Ninja were growing anxious. However they looked at it, those people must have done something while they were out.
Yet all the ANBU could do was watch. Their inability to make an arrest was maddening.
Meanwhile, Uchiha Yin popped the last bite of food into his mouth. Seeing that Samui had finished too, he said softly, "Thanks for having dinner with me tonight. Let me walk you back."
His expression was warm, but inwardly he was irritated. The Kumogakure group should have made a move by now, yet there had been no word at all.
He had even sat through all that long-winded talk in anticipation of a good show. He could hardly accept that this was all he was getting.
Still, he decided to walk Samui back—not to investigate anything, but simply to show his gentlemanly side.
Samui saw it differently. After arranging that mission, she could not help feeling guilty around Uchiha Yin.
When he offered to walk her back, her first thought was that he wanted to inspect the hotel.
Even so, she could hardly refuse. "All right. Sorry for the trouble, Lord Yin," she said without hesitation.
She set off toward the hotel ahead of him. Her expression remained as cool as ever, but a close look would have caught a flicker of panic
