Obito Uchiha had been keeping watch here on Pain's orders. He had seen all of Deidara's progress during this time, and that progress—and the potential behind it—only strengthened his belief that Deidara belonged in the Akatsuki.
So he appeared before Deidara without hesitation. Deidara had been testing a new Clay Bomb when the space in front of him suddenly twisted. Without a moment's hesitation, he hurled the bomb he had prepared at Obito as he emerged.
Obito clearly had not expected to be attacked the moment he appeared. He immediately used his Sharingan to send the bomb into another dimension.
It had been a close call. A moment later and he might have been hurt. Though he had escaped, Obito was hardly in a good mood. Still, there was a smile in his voice. "Is this how you welcome guests?"
The instant Deidara saw Obito, he was stunned. Everything had happened exactly as the man named Uchiha Yin had said it would.
No matter how shocked he felt, his face remained indifferent, and his hands kept working the clay. "That's what you call yourself. In my eyes, someone who shows up in another person's home uninvited is hardly a guest!"
Behind his mask, Obito's smile stiffened. "Young people these days really do have sharp tongues! Does your teacher know you're practicing this Ninjutsu?"
Deidara scoffed inwardly. If my teacher hadn't given it to me, how would I even know about it? But he put on a startled expression. "That's none of your business!"
To Obito, Deidara's expression looked like that of someone who felt threatened, and the irritation in his chest eased considerably. "Have you thought about what would happen if your teacher learned you'd been secretly practicing a Forbidden Technique? Would Iwagakure still have a place for you?"
