Chapter 849: The Eve of the Exam
The three of them had a wonderful time that day and didn't head home until sunset. For once, Uchiha Yin paid little attention to the children. He spent the entire day with ANBU instead.
The show was about to begin, and he wasn't going to miss it for anything. Frustratingly, nothing much happened all day. Apart from spotting a few kids from other villages, he saw nothing worth noting.
That evening, Uchiha Yin came home looking bored and found Kurotsuchi in the kitchen, her spirits low.
Kurotsuchi's strength had grown by leaps and bounds, but she had always lived in Konoha and trained alone. With no teammates, she couldn't take part in the Chunin Ninja Exams even if she wanted to.
Seeing her disappointment despite the brisk way she prepared dinner, Uchiha Yin felt a pang of guilt. After all, he was partly responsible.
"I'm sorry you can't take the Chunin Ninja Exams," Uchiha Yin said, guilt showing on his face. Kurotsuchi knew he was there, but she hadn't expected him to say that. For a moment, she was stunned.
Then her expression eased. She kept working as she said, "I stopped worrying about that ages ago. I'm strong enough, even without the Chunin title. It's fine!"
At first, Uchiha Yin thought she was only saying that to reassure him. But when he tilted his head and looked into her eyes, he found them calm and sincere. He felt a little better.
"A Genin who can beat a Chunin isn't bad, either!" He laughed, as if picturing an amusing scene.
