Uchiha Yin felt awkward too. Kushina Uzumaki had stayed silent the whole time, leaving him unsure how to start a conversation.

So he walked on with a blank expression, privately savoring the feel of her hair beneath his hand.

Warm, smooth, and carrying an irresistible fragrance—that was how her hair had felt to him.

Maybe the brat who had pulled Kushina's hair hadn't really thought its color was ugly?

Maybe it was a child's way of getting a girl's attention. Back in his previous life, boys had always teased the girls they liked while putting on that childish act of not liking them at all.

Really, they only wanted the girl to notice them.

That was what Uchiha Yin thought, anyway.

Just then, two people stepped out from among the cherry blossom trees.

The route Uchiha Yin and Kushina took home wasn't a main road. It was a secluded path he had found himself, quiet and lined with beautiful cherry blossom trees.

He hadn't expected anyone to lie in wait for them there.

And speak of the devil: one of the two was the brat who had pulled Kushina's hair and gotten a beating from her for it.

That left Uchiha Yin feeling rather embarrassed. His theory had been disproved on the spot!

Kids in the Naruto World really were hard to figure out!

"You're the one who made my little brother cry today, aren't you?"

Someone a head taller than Kushina, with a face that resembled the brat's, stepped forward. He folded his arms across his chest and addressed her.

"He started it! And he's so weak, too."

Kushina pointed straight at the brat, indignant.

The young man glanced at his brother, then pointed to his Forehead Protector and smiled at Kushina. "I'm a Genin. Pretty impressive, right?"

"Yeah, really impressive. Almost twenty and still a Genin. So impressive."

Uchiha Yin couldn't resist the jab.

The brat's older brother looked nearly twenty. If he was still a Genin at that age, he would probably make it no further than Chunin in his entire life.

Seeing someone with so little talent act so proud nearly made Uchiha Yin laugh.

Besides, he vaguely remembered this part of the story. Kushina had apparently defeated this Genin, so Uchiha Yin didn't take him seriously at all.

"I only wanted to stand up for my brother. This had nothing to do with you. Now I'm going to beat you up myself."

A vein bulged on the young man's forehead. He drew a Kunai and hurled it at Uchiha Yin.

Not enough force. Too slow. Terrible aim.

Those judgments flashed through Uchiha Yin's mind. He turned slightly, and the Kunai flew right past him.

At the same instant, the young man rushed him. Closing the distance, he threw a punch with all the momentum of his charge.

Thud!

Uchiha Yin merely raised a hand and caught the young man's fist firmly.
