"Ah!" Jiraiya spat the grilled meat from his mouth into his bowl. "You're taking on another student?"
Everyone around them stared at Uchiha Yin in astonishment.
Rin, on the other hand, looked delighted.
She was surprised herself. Uchiha Yin had agreed to take her as his student so easily!
"Lord Uchiha Yin, could I become your student too?" Kurenai Yuhi asked from beside them.
Ever since she had learned that Rin Nohara wanted to study under Uchiha Yin, she had been watching quietly.
After all, her first kiss was at stake. How could Kurenai not care?
The moment she heard how easily Uchiha Yin had accepted Rin Nohara, Kurenai could not wait to ask.
"All right, you can." Uchiha Yin spoke calmly under Kurenai's expectant gaze.
"Yes, Rin Nohara and Kurenai Yuhi are both promising talents. That's why I wanted to take them under my wing," Uchiha Yin said, as though talking to himself—or explaining himself to everyone else.
"Training talent for Konoha is my lifelong pursuit. First came Sara, Kaguya, and Konan. I'll still need others after them to keep that talent pipeline going," Uchiha Yin declared without a shred of embarrassment.
Minato Namikaze, Jiraiya, and Hatake Sakumo's eyes lit up. They admired Uchiha Yin's ambition and generosity of spirit, and could not help but applaud him.
Yuhi Shinku felt ashamed. Uchiha Yin was such an outstanding man, yet he had thought so poorly of him earlier. He really should not have.
Tsunade, though, found it stranger the more she listened.
After all, no one here knew Uchiha Yin better than she did.
She had no idea when Uchiha Yin had started caring so much about Konoha.
