Uchiha Yin ate the local specialties and found that they had a charm all their own.

After dinner, Uchiha Yin held Karura and Pakura close.

Night had fallen. The lights in the room were off, and only a table lamp cast a faint glow.

The three whispered together in the dark, sharing the kind of intimate talk lovers did, along with all sorts of aimless nonsense.

By unspoken agreement, none of them said much about the war.

But deep down, they each knew exactly what they should do.

Pakura and Karura had opposed attacking Konoha from the start. They probably would not be needed much in this war.

Besides, Rasa was acting as the Third Kazekage. That made it even less likely he would let Pakura and Karura onto the battlefield to win military honors.

At most, he would have them handle logistics.

And neither Pakura nor Karura had any interest in doing thankless work.

If they were called upon to fight, it probably would not be on the front against Konoha.

After all, the four great Ninja Villages were hardly going to attack Konoha as one united force. Each would send only some of its troops, with no chance of anything like a unified command.

The rest of their forces would be used elsewhere.

Take the Stone Ninja and Cloud Ninja, for example. They fought constantly, as though they were sworn enemies.

The relationships between the Ninja Villages were tangled. Almost none of them would end up fighting on just one front.

As Uchiha Yin remembered it, the Cloud Ninja eventually clashed with the Stone Ninja, who lured the Third Raikage to his death.

The Mist Ninja clashed with the Sand Ninja and lured Pakura to her death.

At the thought, a sharp glint flashed through Uchiha Yin's eyes.
