First, the important part: for a while, I'll be returning to a regular schedule of two chapters a day, totaling 8,000 Chinese characters.
I announced this plan when the book went premium, but seeing how eagerly you've followed each update and supported me with subscriptions, I wanted to post as much as I could to keep you around.
Lately, though, I've realized the pressure to update so often has been too much. My wording has grown less careful, and the quality of the story has slipped.
I've tried to keep up a pace of 12,000 or even 16,000 characters a day, but the number of readers following the latest chapter has still fallen from 1,700 a few days ago to 1,100 now.
In the 21 days since the book went premium, I've posted nearly 320,000 characters. That counts as pretty hardworking even across all of Qidian, right? (Let me be a little proud of myself.)
But writing so fast has caused the quality to decline.
The early and middle portions of Lal City suffered in particular. I was rushing to update and didn't work out the detailed outline properly, so the story dragged without many exciting moments.
I'm not a particularly fast writer, and lately I've spent around ten hours a day at my computer writing.
Writing that much has also left me no time to think up interesting turns of phrase or plot developments.
After the last climax, I even forgot to plant foreshadowing and story hooks, which made the transition too flat.
After this burst of updates, I need enough time to catch my breath and make adjustments.
For one thing, I'll improve the quality so you all get your money's worth.
I also need time to build up a backlog in preparation for the next burst of
