Looking back, I uploaded this book's first chapter on April 10. In nine months, I've posted nearly 2.1 million Chinese characters, so I've been fairly diligent.
Of course, I know updates have slowed down lately. Since it's New Year's, I'd like to say a few words about that.
It's not because I've been slacking off. I've spent this time researching my next book.
I'm not planning to write two books at once, nor am I abandoning this one or rushing its ending. This time, I plan to spend six months preparing the new book so I'll have more time to build up a backlog and work through the setting, plot, and outline.
I rushed into starting this book, and after keeping up such a fast release schedule, my brain couldn't keep pace.
As a result, the pacing ran into problems in the middle and later stages, while the power system and setting grew somewhat muddled.
So this time, I want to prepare more thoroughly.
This book should have about another 600,000 Chinese characters to go. The plot and outline are already finished; I just need to write them.
The next major arc takes place in the Primordial Empire, a region I've modeled partly on the Three Kingdoms.
In a way, it'll satisfy my old wish to write a Warhammer novel set against an interstellar Three Kingdoms backdrop—an idea my editor rejected.
I expect to finish this book before the end of March, then launch the new one straightaway.
I'm going home for the New Year on the 20th and need to build up a backlog for when I won't have time to
