Xiao Yuyang then said to Kale:
"I've taken care of everything on my end. Now we'll see whether anyone on your side objects!"
Kale composed himself and spoke with renewed authority:
"If anyone objects, they can find out how sharp my blade is!"
Xiao Yuyang smiled at Kale's words and said:
"Good. I'll be waiting for good news!"
With that, he hung up.
On the other end, Kale heard the line go dead.
He said nothing about it. Instead, he turned to the person beside him and ordered:
"Gather everyone. I'm calling an emergency meeting!"
Kale then left the office alone.
His secretary watched him go, puzzled.
As Kale's personal secretary, he knew him better than anyone.
He knew Kale's temperament, too. Kale was easygoing, but he had never said anything like that before.
Since becoming Chief of the Western Continent, Kale had always presented an exceptionally mild manner to the outside world, though his authority sometimes showed through without him intending it.
But he had never talked about drawing a blade the way he just had.
The secretary had no time to dwell on it. Remembering Kale's order, he quickly picked up the phone and dialed a number.
He said into the phone:
"Pass on Chief Kale's order. All senior officials are to report to the conference room immediately. Chief Kale is calling a general meeting."
He hung up.
Then he hurried after Kale.
The senior officials received Kale's order and rushed to the conference room without delay.
Chief Kale might always seem easygoing in public, but anyone with a decent memory still remembered the carnage he had wrought across the Western Continent.
