The path was not particularly hard, but they still had to use their hands now and then, switching from two-wheel drive to four.
Xu Feng looked toward the shrine.
Getting there was a little dangerous, though hardly perilous. He picked his way over and saw that the small shrine held a statue of a divine official!
His master looked puzzled. "What are you doing?"
Then he saw the shrine.
"You dare worship a god out here in the wilderness?"
"The divine official is calling me!" Xu Feng said.
"My Yin Virtue is guiding me, Master. Don't worry, I'll be fine!"
His master fell silent, but followed him over with his saber in hand. If anything went wrong, he would knock the statue down.
A divine statue out here in the wild...
Those were the most suspect of all.
Even his master had to be on guard.
Shen Jicheng stopped too. Seeing that Xu Feng was determined to worship the Divine Marshal, he said, "Then take this—"
As he spoke, he untied the triangular Talisman from around his neck.
He held it out to Xu Feng.
Xu Feng thanked Shen Jicheng but declined.
Shen Jicheng climbed down as well and stood beside Xu Feng, awl in hand. It might not help much, but his intention to protect him was plain. Xu Feng edged carefully toward the shrine and lit an incense stick.
He lit it from the Fire Basin on his back.
With one hand, he formed the "crane offering Incense" gesture.
Shielding the Incense as he went, he set it in place.
Then Xu Feng saw the Divine Marshal accept the offering! The Incense smoke drifted toward the statue and was drawn into it.
Through the haze,
Xu Feng saw how imposing the divine official looked.
