Ch. 102Entering

Ryan brought Strange to Kamar-Taj and began teaching him magic so he could learn to heal his hands. As Ryan demonstrated a powerful new way to combine spells, Strange grew discouraged by the contrast with Ryan’s talent, and Mordo took over his lessons.

  • The Ancient One tested Strange’s beliefs, had Ryan show him his Astral Form and magic, then ordered Ryan to throw him out so he would be humbled before returning to Kamar-Taj.

Ch. 103Strange's Restlessness

  • Strange agreed to Ryan’s plan to speed up his learning, and Ryan touched Strange’s temple with his fingers as Mordo recognized the technique and grew concerned.

Ch. 104A Little Worried

Ryan helped Strange learn to open a Portal by showing him sorcerers practicing, then learned Bolts of Balthakk from the Guard and experimented with casting it through a Portal. Days later, Ryan encouraged Strange to study independently as Strange settled into Kamar-Taj.

  • The Ancient One stopped Ryan from speaking through a Portal, and Ryan later visited the Guard, who offered to teach him Bolts of Balthakk.
  • Ryan learned Bolts of Balthakk quickly and combined it with a Portal, accidentally filling Kamar-Taj’s sky with lightning for two hours.
  • Mordo brought Ryan to see Strange, who had become adept at controlling magic, and Ryan advised him to study on his own.

Ch. 105Strange Was a Sorcerer with a Doctorate

Strange learned that Ryan had summoned the strange lightning over Kamar-Taj after only three months of training, and his admiration inspired him to study magic harder. Ch. 108Strange's Resolve

  • Mordo asked Ryan to stop training Strange outside the Training Ground and proposed a public, no-magic match to make the sorcerers focus on him again.
  • Ryan agreed not to use magic, but Mordo’s punches only hurt Mordo because Ryan could not switch off his passive Steel Body ability.
  • After enduring Mordo’s attacks without injury, Ryan said it was his turn.

Ch. 109Chains

Ryan defeated Mordo in a sparring match, then struggled with the attention his victory brought him. He visited Wong at the Sanctum Sanctorum and asked about capturing Kaecilius without killing him, learning of Cyttorak's Crimson Bands.
