Don't misunderstand. Annan just wanted the orcs for their fighting strength.
After all, orcs became Warriors as soon as they reached adulthood. In heavy armor, they could rival Elite Warriors, and they were cheap: two Gold Narls could hire an orc Warrior for a month.
The only question was whether walking up and asking the price would be rude.
Just then, a tiny, beautiful silver dragon crawled past. Hmm... Asking how much a dragon cost definitely wouldn't be rude.
Annan gathered his courage and approached the burly orc.
Kane Bloodhowl was having no fun at all. The elves singing and dancing around him sounded like a pack of noisy monkeys.
What creature was thin, lived in trees, and chattered endlessly?
A monkey.
No orc liked an elven banquet. They loved meat, while elves ate nothing but food from nature.
Making an orc gnaw on fruit... That was abuse!
If his people found out, his reputation as High Chieftain Bloodhowl would be ruined!
"Hello."
As Kane Bloodhowl fumed, someone nearby spoke in the Common Tongue.
He turned around, saw no one, and grunted as he turned back.
"Are you here alone?"
The voice came again. Kane Bloodhowl looked around, his pent-up frustration turning to anger.
"Who's playing tricks on me?"
Kane Bloodhowl roared, his brown skin nearly turning blood-red with rage.
Nearby Envoys and elves looked over at the commotion, then turned away.
Annan stood right in front of the orc, silent.
Who was playing tricks on whom?
Why did this orc seem a little slow...?
"I'm right here..." Annan said helplessly.
Kane Bloodhowl looked down and stared at Annan for several seconds. "You looking for me?"
"You seemed to be alone. Want to talk?" Annan did his best to turn on the charm.
"About what?"
This orc was direct. Perfect.
