Mite returned to his quiet home in a daze.
His house near the slum held almost nothing. The walls were bare, save for a portrait of a woman who was not particularly beautiful but had a gentle air.
The woman in the painting shifted her eyes toward Mite. "Darling, did you get it back?"
"Yes... Here it is."
Mite dropped the bundle from his back. As he untied it, an old necklace came into view.
"I found what you wanted..." A trace of fear showed through Mite's numb expression.
The woman in the portrait said, "Why are you afraid of me? I'm your wife, the one who promised to stay with you forever..."
Mite raised his bloodshot eyes. "So much has happened in the seven years since you left. I..."
"I know. I know everything... That's why I've come back," his "wife" said gently. "Once I return to the world of the living, we can start over..."
"What... what will it cost me?"
"Your soul..."
Summoning every ounce of courage he had, Mite asked, "If I lose my soul, will I still be me...?"

A faint smell of sulfur drifted through the room with her beguiling whispers. A Parchment Scroll emerged from the flames, followed by the hands holding it.
Brudona took shape and whispered, "Sign it, and your wife, who died seven years ago, will return to your side..."
The horned Devil and the Parchment Scroll were reflected in Mite's increasingly bloodshot eyes. He walked toward her as if compelled, bit his finger as though under her control, and reached toward the scroll
