Jody thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. He had seen resolve on the Princess's face.

The Wolf Gang messenger was dragged before Joan. Her people watched with eyes that shone as though they were burning, and Joan did not disappoint them.
"You should remember this day..."
Joan drove her longsword into the pleading messenger's chest. "The Wolf Gang will fall because of you!"
The accomplice who had brought disaster upon the Freedom Gang collapsed. Joan looked up. "Thanks for the effort, Bores. Is anyone else coming?"
Bores shook his head at once, his eyes full of awe.
"We're enough, Princess," Gloria said in her booming voice.
Even the Oyster Gang had only two Master Level fighters. The Wolf Gang could not possibly have the strength to stand against them.
"Bores, take them and bury our comrades."
As for the enemy dead... they would end up in the wanderers' bellies.
"P-Princess, we want to go too."
Joan paused. She saw the resentment in their eyes, and the fire.
"You want revenge too... All right. We'll go together." She would not let the men's fire die out. Those who did not want to go stayed behind to care for the wounded and bury their comrades.
Joan and the others set out.
The Suffering Gang members led the way. Illymoyas said nothing, but she did not leave. She followed behind Joan.
They trudged on for four or five hours, stopping briefly to rest along the way. At last, in the gloomy evening light, the walls of the Wolf Gang Stronghold appeared ahead.
"Who's out there?"
The gang members on the wall spotted them. Gloria answered by gripping the battle axe on her back and charging the stronghold gate.
"Waaaaagh!"
Gloria slammed into the gate
