The stone wrapped in parchment shattered the stained-glass window. Shards flashed brilliantly in the sunlight, and a thought flashed through Annan's mind just as quickly.
"Who's there?"
"Run..."
Annan and Illymoyas turned and fled like thieves.
A few minutes later, they reached the Commercial Street, where the Church's soaring tower was no longer in sight.
It was the same familiar street. Annan looked up at the sign of the Restaurant they had visited before. "Have you eaten?"
"Three days ago."
Annan stopped and exchanged a look with Illymoyas.

Since they were here anyway, and Annan had a few things he wanted to discuss with Illymoyas, he climbed the steps and entered the quiet restaurant.
Despite it being noon, not a single customer was inside the Restaurant. The waiter was dozing behind the counter.
Because they were wanted, Annan and Illymoyas sat in a corner away from the shop window.
"Same as last time?" he asked.
"Anything's fine."
"Then one plate of roasted mushrooms, one bowl of Meat Soup, two servings of buttered white bread, and ten Roast Lambs. Remember, ten." Annan tossed a Gold Coin to the waiter taking their order.
The waiter caught it but remained by the table.
"Is there something else?"
"Uh, sir, you're still 37 Silver Coins short."
"It didn't even cost one Gold Narl last time."
"Sir, the price of everything in the city has been going up lately..." The waiter gave a helpless, awkward laugh.
No wonder the Restaurant was empty.
Annan paid the remaining 37 Silver Coins. Once the waiter left, he asked, "Illymoyas, has your group found a suitable place to settle?"
