Clover Mine had once been the closest mine to Golden City. But during the upheaval ten years ago, a fire had broken out there, killing hundreds of laborers who could not escape in time. Thick smoke hung over the city for three days and nights.
After the fire was extinguished, Clover Mine was abandoned. Rumor had it that the Wronged Dead wandered its deserted tunnels.
"Stay here."
Grand Lord Raymond spoke to his personal guard outside the mine.
"Yes, Grand Lord."
The loyal guard in Gold Armor obeyed his orders alone.
Grand Lord Raymond entered the cave by himself. It was rather narrow for him. The moment darkness swallowed him, the ring on his little finger flashed with magic, and a Magic Lamp appeared in his hand.
As he ventured deeper, unsettling wails rose from the depths of the mine tunnel, where black scorch marks covered everything.
The haunting of Clover Mine was no rumor. Hordes of the Undead truly lurked here.
They emerged from the rock walls and lunged at the living intruder with bloodcurdling cries. But as they neared the edge of the light, they sensed a familiar presence. They stopped and withdrew like servants.
Grand Lord Raymond reached the depths of the cave unhindered. Several Magic Lamps lit the place, where a group of people wearing Magic-Sealing Manacles were locked in cages.
Nearly all the priests and nuns of the Wealth Church were here.
"Raymond! It was you after all... Have you gone mad? How dare you move against the Church?"
A priest in one of the cages glared at the approaching Grand Lord Raymond.
Raymond was so bloated that he blocked every bit of light falling behind him, as though he wore a cloak of fathomless darkness.
"Did you capture the Bishop and the others too!?"
