Annan looked at the Princess, who feared them like a cub facing a predator. "Will the new her inherit her old memories?"
"Our emotions reside in our souls, but our memories are stored in our brains."
That was why Evil Spirits so often went mad, while skeletons were so often little more than walking corpses.
The Skeleton King had dissected thousands of living beings. It would be no exaggeration to call him the Undead most familiar with the human body.
The Princess before them was not the real Princess. Annan felt a pang of regret. But... at least the new Princess still retained her old memories.
A Tender Sprout had emerged from the dead Ancient Tree. The Forest's story would continue.
And if the real Princess returned someday... well, she had been a body with two souls before. Would three really make much difference?
"Annan, should we seal away her memories?"
Annan came back to himself and said, torn, "Then the newborn soul would really be left with nothing but an old shell."
"Then let's place a Seal on them. The Princess's memories would cause irreparable harm to a newborn soul. As her flame of consciousness grows stronger, she can gradually remember the past."
For all his imposing stature, the wise Skeleton King possessed a gentleness that belied his appearance.
"All right."
Gray Runes spun from the Skeleton King's fingertips and enveloped the Princess's face. They touched her cheeks like a cool spring rain, then vanished in a flash.
A minor Seal spell took little effort for the Skeleton King. He took out several crystal bottles. "These Potions nourish the soul. They'll help the Princess regain her memories faster."
"You've already done more than enough." Annan thanked him
