Biross coiled her snake tail on the ground and bowed her head to Lady Lilith in the air.
In the distance, countless captive Dwarf artisans worked along the rim of the volcano, building an obsidian platform for the demons.
After quietly hearing Biross's report, the commander of the Sixth Legion said calmly, "They only want to replace the McKinnon Rats. Ignore them. They won't dare say anything."
If they did, the McKinnon Rats would certainly make trouble for them. Whether the McKinnon Rats would believe the scheming Stuen Rats was one question; what disputes would follow if they did was another. Either way, the Stuen Rats wouldn't get what they wanted.
"Give the Stuen Rats a little hope. Keep them dangling. Let them think their chance is within reach," she said.
Biross had been thinking the same thing.
"Is there anything else?"
The Demon's Eye was nearly complete, and she had ordered every commander to guard the volcano. Biross clearly hadn't come in person just for that one question.
Biross hesitated before asking, "About your arrangements in Free City..."
"So you noticed."
Lilith wasn't surprised that one of her most capable subordinates had noticed what was unusual about Free City. After all, that useless Red Dragon's death had something to do with him. And besides...
For some reason, the Demon Lord was watching him too. He seemed to have some connection to another Demon Lord.
"Free City is part of the Demon Lord's plans. You needn't concern yourself with it."
But to Biross, that sounded like the Legion Commander had admitted she herself was the spy hidden in Free City.
Biross hurried to clarify. "It's just that one of my subordinates 'happened' to be taken to Free City. I thought I could use the opportunity to learn more..."
