"Your Highness, the Archbishop is waiting for you."
A priest came to meet him. Annan reluctantly drew back his hand, but before he could speak, the priest led him to Archbishop Tomark.
Annan found the elderly Archbishop in the secluded Baptism Room.
"Archbishop Tomark, I..."
"You needn't say anything. Here are ten million Gold Narls. In addition, a Holy Army unit from the Holy City is on its way to Free City to help defend your territory against the forces of Chaos."
Before Annan could get a word out, Archbishop Tomark had handed over both money and troops.
"I couldn't possibly... This doesn't come out of the Free City Development Fund, does it?"
"It does not."
"Wonderful!"
Annan wasn't a Wilhelm swindler, after all. He had some shame—he wouldn't take ten million and then ask for twenty million more.
"Does that Holy Army unit have a Legendary among them?"
"Of course."
Together with Commander Big Litt, that meant the Wealth Church would have two Legendary figures stationed in Free City!
As for the possibility of them taking over... there was nothing to worry about. Annan only lacked conventional high-level combatants. When it came to sheer power, all he had to do was shout, "Old Ancestor, save me!" and Sister Eliyes would come riding seven-colored clouds to his rescue.
With the benefits secured, Annan looked utterly sincere. "Archbishop Tomark, I actually came to learn about Faith Power."
