The firestorm stopped the Blink Rats. After a few misjudged their teleportation and flashed into the flames, turning into green lightning, the others halted.
One Blink Rat handed a piece of felstone to a Brute Rat and had it throw the stone to the other side of the firestorm.
The Brute Rat hurled the felstone, prompting the others to do the same. One Blink Rat picked a fool that squeezed the stone so hard it shattered. The rat and every other rat within five meters dissolved into a puddle of green pus.
But more felstones passed through the firestorm and landed on the far side of the City Wall, striking the Knight Golems.
The Knight Golems' bodies were not made of mountain copper, and steel could withstand the corrosion for only a few more seconds. Fel energy quickly ate through them, exposing their vulnerable cores and magical Power Cores.
The Knight Golems with damaged cores swung their swords more and more slowly, then stood motionless. Some even had vital parts of their cores destroyed and charged madly into the firestorm.
The Knight Golems blocked most of the felstones, but a few sailed over the defense line toward the defenders in the rear.
Everyone scattered. There were few casualties, but their formation broke, and corrosion left the City Wall pitted.
The second volley of felstones followed soon after the first, then came a third.
Large numbers of Knight Golems began taking damage and losing the ability to fight.
But if the defenders withdrew the Knight Golems, they would have to face the felstones themselves.
A soldier suddenly broke ranks with Hellfire. He soon returned carrying a makeshift net fashioned from two Magic Muskets and rope, then ran straight toward the Knight Golems.
"What's he doing?"
