The Frost Giants, still unaware of what had happened, raised their clubs and released the reins. They ordered the White Dragons forward as they always had, but the dragons that had once obeyed suddenly lunged at them and tore into their throats—
The freed Blue Dragon spread her wings, sending the nearby humans staggering backward. She rose into the blizzard as a vivid blue silhouette, heading toward the glow of the Frost Giant Wizard's magic. She drew a deep breath—and a thick arc of deep-blue lightning crossed the sky, pierced the storm, and ripped through its defenses.
The hazy figure holding the Dragonbone Staff let out a wretched howl, then became a ball of light that flared for an instant, driving away the blizzard around it.
The storm swept back in, but without anyone directing it, it dwindled to a gentle snowfall.
The Elementals and Professionals charged the Frost Giants and their servants as arrows and Spells rained down. Their Wizard leader was dead. Humans swarmed around them, the White Dragons had turned against them, and a Blue Dragon circled overhead, loosing bolts of lightning now and then. Instinct finally stirred in the Frost Giants' dull minds. They abandoned their companions and servants, dropped their clubs, and fled toward the Snow Mountains.
Annan did not let anyone pursue them. More than twenty Frost Giants remained, enough to inflict heavy losses.
The snowfall grew lighter. Everyone stood around the camp. "We won!" someone shouted, and cheers surged up like a Sea wave.
But the White Dragons, blood on their teeth, crouched into hunting stances at the noise.
