Annan failed to take the map from the Library.
Soren revered Annan and would gladly have given his life for his lord, but his teacher was on the other side of this. He could only kneel in the doorway and beg Annan not to take the Library's property.
More visitors were arriving at the Library. Too embarrassed to insist, Annan put down the map and left empty-handed.
The distant city walls bustled with activity. The second group of reserve guards was training under the Knights. Annan looked up at the White Dragon splashing in the Bay, returned the greetings of residents along the Street, and made his way to the beach.
A bucket full of Sea fish stood beside the boy's feet. He was taming the White Dragon using the method Annan had taught him.
"Your method works! They love it!" the boy said excitedly.
Hunting was instinctive, but getting food without working for it felt even better.
"Where's the necklace I gave you?"
"Right here!" The boy pulled a magic necklace from his pocket. Inscribed with defensive Spells and a Teleportation Spell, it was worth a fortune, but it could save his life if the White Dragon went out of control.
"Wear it. It'll protect you."
Annan "helped" the boy throw a few fish, then returned to the Street, where he ran into Ingrid, who had been looking for him.
"Where are you going?"
"Uh... the Dungeon." In truth, he was wandering without a destination.
"You're going to see Della? Then ask her what she's doing. Why do prisoners who've been released lately keep causing trouble just to get the guards to arrest them?"
"And they caught someone who'd been turned into a dog by a Transformation Spell. He's been proven innocent, so bring him out too."
"All right."
