The locals also called it Innocent City.
Centuries ago, Siltovis had been a City of Sin in every sense. Robbery, murder, heretics, and evil ran rampant. It was judged the most chaotic City-States in all of Tartun.
That changed when a saint of the Deity of the forces of justice descended and purged Siltovis of its sins. From then on, it was called Innocent City. The statues of the God of Justice found everywhere lent weight to the tale—and showed just how many followers he had here.
Siltovis lay in the south of the Tartun Empire, beside the Obiris Strait. In good weather, one could even see the Floating City hovering above the distant shore.
With the heartland of the Tartun Empire on one side and Wilhelm close by, Annan could find no safer place. Ai accompanied him—
"What do you think?"
As a student at Siltovis Magic Academy, Alice was playing host.
"It feels different from Breeze City... less stern."
Breeze City was dominated by sturdy stone houses built to keep out the cold, with sloping roofs to shed snow. Siltovis favored light, elegant wooden houses, somewhat like Star-Moon Bay.
But Star-Moon Bay was only a small town. This City-States was more prosperous even than Breeze City.
"And Breeze City doesn't have this many Churches. Neither does the Royal Capital." Annan looked out the carriage window as another towering church passed by.
The Royal Capital probably did have them. But Annan had spent his time either at the Princess's Manor or at the Auction House, so he had never had a chance to see those Churches that had declined since the Year of Turmoil.
