"How did you do it?"
"Was it that hard?"
Dean Bu Lai Breichim looked at the fearless young man before him. "The Druid Avengers are radical defenders of nature. They hate anything that harms it."
"Because I planted a Forest to the west?"
"That counts as harming nature too..." Dean Bu Lai Breichim explained that any outside interference with a forest counted, whether it was cutting down trees or planting them.
The Druid Avengers sounded like fundamentalists.
"Because she's a Halfling?"
Halflings were good at music, cooking, and dancing, and they loved gatherings and peace. That made her less extreme than the other Druid Avengers.
"You sent her to the Dungeon?"
"No." Annan shook his head. "I wanted her to put aside her prejudice, so I had Della take her to the Theater."
"I'm guessing it was The Fall of the Mage Tower."
Dean Bu Lai Breichim and Annan laughed together.
"And the story you told? The one about the Forest and the old man?"
"I made it up."
Dean Bu Lai Breichim, who had watched Annan "grow" over the past few months, sighed. "You should be glad she didn't use a Lie Detection Spell."
"Do you have any advice?"
"Watch out for her companions. The Druid Avengers are nature fanatics."
"They can't be harder to deal with than the Mad Dog Duke." Annan had another question. "Do elementals need to eat?"
"Elemental Life doesn't 'eat' the way we do. It only needs to maintain its form."
"Then how should I get on their good side?"
"You'll have to find that answer yourself..."
All Annan could think of was giving gemstones to Earth Elementals, distilled water to Water Elementals, and heat sources to Fire Elementals. As for Wind Elementals... he drew a blank.
