City Guard Officer Newman told Baron about the case on their way back to the Embassy.

"So the killer has something to do with that nobleman named Annan?"

"I'd think carefully before saying that again," Janice said coldly.

"Uh... Mr. Annan is a good man. He even helped people escape the Lower Hive." Newman knew Janice was especially protective of Annan and warned Baron not to speak carelessly.

"A nobleman like that? I don't believe it," the old man with the bulbous red nose muttered.

When they returned to the Embassy, Baron swept his gaze over the scene. "The killer either held a deep grudge or was very confident."

"How can you tell?" Janice asked at once.

"What ordinary person would dare kill a special envoy on Montreal Mountain?"

Baron entered the room and saw that the dead man's clothes had been pulled open. He lifted an eyelid.

"I did that. Their wounds are different, so I concluded there were at least two killers," Newman said.

"Shallow. If I killed someone with my left hand and then my right, would you miss that too?" Baron spared his former superior no courtesy. He walked over to Mengsong's body and reached out a trembling hand.

"Oh, my hand won't stop shaking..."

He drew it back.

"Do you need treatment?" Janice asked.

"Treatment? That's right..." Baron took the bottle Newman offered, pulled out the cork, and gulped down a mouthful. "You won't find a better cure anywhere in the world!"

After a taste of wine, Baron's hands were perfectly steady. He finished examining Mengsong and the room, then went into the bedroom next door.

"Tsk. Such a pretty young lady. The killer was cold-blooded." Baron shook his head as he looked at Cynthia's body. She was young enough to be his daughter.
