They had just entered the hall when they ran into Lu Qingxuan.
Everyone bowed.
Lu Qingxuan glanced at Xu Yuan and said with a smile:

He was remarkably good at keeping his composure. Not a trace of emotion showed on his face, as though the Zhou Tian Instrument shattering and the First Highness being taken away had not affected him at all.

Xu Yuan said, cupping his fists.
Lu Qingxuan nodded to him, then flashed onto the raised platform.
He took his place behind the Human Emperor.
The Human Emperor looked toward Xu Yuan and the others. A smile appeared on his face as he applauded.
"Excellent."
"As expected, you did not disappoint me. This expedition was a great success."
At his applause, the Nine Luminaries and Luofu officials around him began clapping too.
Applause rose both onstage and below.
The atmosphere grew lively.
It was as if nothing unusual had happened at all.
The emperor's resonant voice filled the hall:
"Examinees who earned at least ten Merit points will receive admission offers directly from the Nine Luminaries or Luofu."
"Those with fifteen or more Merit points may choose a treasure from the Merit redemption list. The Demon Race is taking its time with preparations, though, so I recommend choosing something from the Imperial Treasury. That's the safer bet."
