The Imperial Capital.
A secluded alley.
Inside a teahouse.
Every other table was Emptiness. Only one table was crowded with people.
"How did things come to this... If we'd known, we should've attacked together and chopped that Human Emperor into mincemeat."
A burly man with a scarred face sighed.
The frail man beside him said leisurely, "We couldn't attack together before. With the Siphon Law, we had to fight one at a time and even wait our turn."
"Look at them. They're killing like mad. Are we really not going to act?" asked a seductive-looking woman.
"What the hell's the point of fighting now? They've formed a team and can crush us outright. Every attack gets a 300% power boost."
"It's too late."
"Exactly. They know their way around politics. I'm sure they'll stabilize the situation soon."
"So what do we do? Nothing? Raise our hands and surrender?" the burly man said irritably.
Silence fell over the group.
The burly man sneered again. "We're the strongest, holiest experts in the Truth Void. Our Imago cultivation is who knows how many levels above these country bumpkins. Their only advantage is that they've gained the Rules granted by the Universe."
"Are we supposed to lick the soles of their shoes now?"
No one spoke.
But one or two of the Reincarnators shifted uneasily, as though they could barely contain their anger.
"Go to the Mist Sea."
The man in the seat of honor at the center of the table had spoken.
Everyone looked at him.
He continued:
"Go to the Mist Sea. Find Truth Shards and offer them to the Ancient God to help it awaken. That will qualify us to form a team."
"Once our team surpasses theirs in level, they're dead."
That was the most efficient, most feasible strategy!
"Exactly."
