"Chief!"
"Didn't you just leave? What is it now?" The Chief was getting a little nervous. Whenever this kid volunteered a report, it was never about anything small. He was getting old; his heart could only take so much.
As though sensing the Chief's resentment, Shen Bing ducked his head. "Just a little something I wanted to report to you, Chief."
"Go on. What is it?" the Chief asked.
Shen Bing said, "We've finished building our spaceship. We're planning to find some time to take it up for a spin."
"Then go ahead..." the Chief replied casually. A spaceship—what was so surprising about that? This kid had already donated ten incredible Skyflying spacecraft in one go.
But no sooner had the words left his mouth than the Chief realized it probably wasn't that simple.
"The spaceship you're talking about—is it the kind you mentioned before?" the Chief asked in shock, his heart beating a little faster.
Of course he remembered. A few months ago, the government had signed a contract with Phantom Immortal Technology for the company to build it a spaceship.
Powerful as Skyflying was, neither Phantom Immortal Technology nor Shen Bing had ever described it as a spaceship on any occasion. At most, they had classified it as an aircraft.
Clearly, in Shen Bing's eyes, Skyflying didn't qualify as a spaceship.
Sure enough, Shen Bing answered without hesitation, "Exactly!"
"Can it really achieve sub-light speed?" the Chief asked the question that concerned him most.
Only sub-light speed could make it possible to venture beyond the Solar System! Only then would interstellar travel have practical significance.
If it couldn't even reach sub-light speed, simply leaving the Solar System would take an enormous amount of time. Reaching Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system to the Sun, would take decades or
