Reporter Wang paused briefly, then asked, "Just how fast can the Hope travel?"
Shen Bing said, "Our ship is powered by five Nuclear Fusion Reactors. Their tremendous energy output allows it to achieve incredible acceleration, and its top speed can even reach sub-light speed."
Some people were still confused about what sub-light speed meant, but Reporter Wang, who had done her homework, understood immediately. It meant a speed above ninety percent of the speed of light, but below light speed itself.
Now that was seriously impressive!
Even ninety percent of light speed was enough to shock anyone.
Two hundred and seventy thousand kilometers per second. That was downright terrifying!
"Boss! It's almost time. Please come and preside over the ignition ceremony!" A staff member hurried over and spoke respectfully.
Shen Bing nodded, then turned to Reporter Wang. "Reporter Wang, would you like to come and watch?"
"I'd love to!" Reporter Wang replied immediately.
Just as Reporter Wang imagined they would have to walk a long way, hold a suitably ceremonial ten-second countdown, and then shout "Ignition!" Shen Bing merely took a few steps to an enormous floor-to-ceiling window nearby.
Through the window, they could clearly see the Hope spaceship several hundred meters away.
In front of the window stood a crystal-like pillar with a palm-shaped indentation on it.
"To ensure the ship's absolute security, we've configured its five Nuclear Fusion Reactors so that their initial startup requires my palmprint. I also have to designate the ship's captain and grant the relevant authorization. In other words, without my confirmation, even a fully constructed ship would be nothing but a pile of scrap metal."
This scene was broadcast to viewers around the world, putting Shen Bing's smug side on full display.
Most people suspected this had less to do with ensuring security
