Nearly a month of space travel was nothing unusual for Marshal Qinglan.
Yet this journey weighed on him more heavily than any before it.
In the past, whenever the Azure Empire's space fleets traveled through space, they were expanding its territory.
Ever since their cultivation had advanced enough to let them tear open space, they had either been expanding or on their way to expand.
Over tens of thousands of years, they had wiped out at least ten civilizations in the universe. Most had still been in the early stages of development—primitive civilizations that had yet to venture beyond their own planets.
Destroying such civilizations offered little sense of accomplishment, but it was still satisfying, especially as they watched their own civilization's territory grow ever larger.
This time, however, was different. Two or three months ago, they had expended tremendous effort to destroy the Corgi Empire, which had been almost as powerful as the Azure Empire. They had felt they were at the pinnacle of their lives, swaggering around as though they answered to no one. But now...
They had plunged straight to rock bottom.
How low had they fallen? Over a hundred thousand soldiers of the Azure Empire Army on one planet had been wiped out, and all they had achieved in exchange was the destruction of one small enemy base.
What they did not know was that the supposedly destroyed base had been little more than an empty shell at the time. Had Marshal Qinglan known that, he would probably have felt even worse.
Losing the troops on one planet was one thing. The real problem was that the main fleet under his command had actually been "scared" into retreating by a handful of small enemy fighter aircraft.
He considered it an unspeakable humiliation!
But what could he
