An hour later, Shen Bing and Wang Sheng arrived at the factory.
Shen Bing introduced Wang Sheng to Dong Qiang and the others. They had met that morning, but it had only been during the interviews, not a formal introduction.
Now that Wang Sheng was also the director of the Illusion Immortal Glass Factory, he naturally needed to get to know its workers.
Even if this director had only five people under him.
Shen Bing inspected the factory's equipment, and everything was running well.
Because the Illusion Immortal Glass Factory currently used a small Crucible Kiln, even at full capacity, it could only melt materials at night and produce glass during the day.
It was not especially efficient, but it could still turn out about two tons of finished product a day.
For the flat glass they were producing, that worked out to a little over a hundred square meters.
After asking about the factory's general situation, Wang Sheng's brow furrowed deeply.
"Boss, at our current production scale, there's no way we can meet the Nancy Building project's needs. Even if the project team wants to work with us, one look at our factory will make them think twice. We need to expand production immediately. We must be able to make at least a thousand square meters of raw glass sheets a day."
"How much does the Nancy Building need?" Shen Bing frowned. If they followed Wang Sheng's advice, they would have to increase the factory's equipment tenfold.
How was he supposed to manage that? Even selling Shen Bing off would not raise that much money.
Wang Sheng said, "The Nancy Building is a complex of three towers. The tallest has eighty-one floors, and the shortest has seventy-two. If the entire complex uses glass curtain walls, the area will exceed two hundred thousand square meters."
The figure startled Shen Bing, but what Wang Sheng said next surprised him even more.
"At current prices for ordinary glass curtain walls, the glass alone costs nearly three hundred yuan per square meter. Given our product's properties, even five hundred yuan would be cheap."
Shen Bing murmured, "That's a hundred-million-yuan deal."
The number stunned him. Even though he had made up his mind to start a company and make money, Shen Bing had never imagined his first deal could bring in a hundred million.
Shen Bing remembered a popular saying: set yourself a small goal—make a hundred million first.
It seemed he was not far from that small goal.
Determined to achieve it, Shen Bing made his decision on the spot. "You're in charge of this. As for expanding the factory... I'll come up with some of the money. See whether the Nancy Building Project team can advance part of the payment. Call it a deposit."
Wang Sheng was dumbfounded. They had not signed a contract—or even met the project team—yet the boss was already thinking about getting paid in advance.
What kind of supplier did that?
After thinking it over, however, Wang Sheng said, "If this were any other product, I wouldn't dare suggest it. In construction, suppliers usually have to cover costs up front. But our product is one of a kind worldwide. I'm confident I can get a five-percent deposit, perhaps even ten percent."
Five percent of a hundred million was five million. That was no small sum, especially for Shen Bing right now.
He knew he still had plenty of expenses ahead. First, expanding the factory meant securing land. Even a short-term lease would cost far more than a few tens of thousands of yuan.
Then there was the equipment. He could not keep buying small Crucible Kilns forever. A Float Glass Production Line was essential, and one of those cost tens of millions.
Labor and raw materials also had to be taken into account.
Ever since deciding to enter the glass industry, Shen Bing had studied it carefully.
Building a Glass Factory of any real scale would cost at least fifty million yuan.
That was the main reason Shen Bing had started with a small glass factory to produce a finished sample. Without a finished product, everything else was just talk.
"Boss, there's something I'm not sure I should ask."
"Go ahead."
"Would it be easy for someone else to copy this glass's production process and technology?" Wang Sheng asked, a little worried.
Shen Bing had offered him an annual base salary of two hundred thousand yuan, plus one percent of the glass factory's net profits. The salary was not what mattered. The moment he saw the finished glass, he knew that one percent was where the real money lay. If someone copied their product just as they were getting started, that opportunity would vanish.
Shen Bing said, "Don't worry. Anyone capable of copying my technology hasn't been born yet."
"If that's true, we could actually pull off the White Wolf Scheme without putting up the money ourselves."
"How?"
"We could..."
After discussing it with Wang Sheng, Shen Bing returned to school.
Wang Sheng would handle the details. Business was not Shen Bing's area of expertise.
Besides, he would rather spend the time studying. He was eager to learn Quantum Teleportation Technology.
So far, he had not even grasped its basics, let alone worked out how to put a technology that could reshape the world into practice.
The next day, Shen Bing's father drove to Rongcheng again and took away a Chinese Rural Dog Shen Bing had prepared for him.
A mutt is still a mutt.
That was what Shen's Father thought.
But only Shen Bing could get him a mutt smarter than a Border Collie, so there was nothing he could do about it.
Another two million yuan appeared in Shen Bing's account. One million was for the dog, and the other million was a loan from his father.
After all, Shen Bing had found out that his father had sold Big Yellow for the staggering price of 1.8 million yuan.
When Shen Bing asked to borrow the money, Shen's Father had merely given him a long look and asked nothing.
That was the trust between father and son.
Watching his father drive away, Shen Bing wondered whether it was time he bought a car.
Taking taxis to the Glass Factory every day was inconvenient.
Of course, he would never admit that part of him just wanted a car to show off.
Forget it. I'll wait until the first deal goes through. I need to spend the money where it counts.
Shen Bing then transferred the two million yuan to the company account and called Wang Sheng, telling him to arrange a lease for the land around the Illusion Immortal Glass Factory before finding a construction company to build the new facilities.
Two million yuan was far too little for everything they needed to do, but for now, Shen Bing only needed to get things started.
Shen Bing looked at Little Doudou sitting bored on a chair and could not help sighing. "Little Doudou, do you think I could get a hundred million if I sold you?"
"Meow!" The kitten protested at once.
"Little Doudou is worth more than a hundred million. Little Doudou is priceless." A voice sounded in Shen Bing's mind.
Shen Bing had been busy with the factory lately and had left Little Doudou at home most of the time.
The kitten had not been idle. Not only had Little Doudou learned to read books, it had even learned to use the internet. Those two stubby little paws could type.
Apparently, it had even registered a QQ account. Shen Bing just did not know whether it flirted with girls online.
The image was too beautiful for Shen Bing to bear thinking about.
