Shen Bing disagreed. "That possibility is very slim. If the United States really had another research base like that, those Americans wouldn't have acted as though their fathers had died after losing your group. I suspect there's something else going on." Clarence was just as quick-witted. "Boss, if it's really as you say, things could get troublesome."
Shen Bing nodded. "They certainly could!"
Clarence looked again at the corpse on the experiment table before him.
"This fellow's chromosome structure is extremely stable—even more stable than that of the Gene Warriors we cultivated back then," Clarence said.
Shen Bing's mind raced. "I'll leave this corpse to you. I want you to uncover every last clue hidden in it."
"Yes, Boss!" Clarence answered without hesitation. With the Underground Base's hardware and software resources, he was confident he could carry out the assignment.
Shen Bing then returned to the Central Control Center.
He pondered the matter the entire way.
According to the intelligence Qiuqiu had gathered, there was nothing unusual about the people entering the Florida Town, yet their physical attributes changed dramatically by the time they came out.
There had to be something strange about that town.
Then there was what Clarence had just said: those people also possessed a gene sequence that promoted gene fusion.
There were several possibilities. One was that the Genetic Biology Research Base in the United States had obtained that miraculous gene sequence through some significant connection to the town. Another was that the force behind the town had acquired X, the test subject who had escaped from Clarence's Genetic Biology Research Base, and then, through sheer dumb luck, optimized the technology to create these super soldiers.
Whichever it was, Shen Bing felt he needed to investigate the town himself.
Of course, he could send someone else.
