Shen Bing wasn't doing this for no reason. The monster's head really was rather large, and it had two horns as well.
The Consciousness-Reading Device had been made to fit a human head, so naturally, it wouldn't fit the monster's.
Lu Xian worked remarkably efficiently. In just a minute, he stripped away all the unnecessary parts, leaving only some specially designed sensors and wiring.
Just then, the monster suddenly opened its eyes, startling Shen Bing, who was standing in front of it and examining it closely.
"Aah..." The monster roared, sending waves of sound reverberating through the Immortal Carriage.
Shen Bing stepped back twice and frowned slightly. "Lu Xian! Quiet him down!"
At those words, Lu Xian immediately put down what he was holding. His right hand instantly transformed into an enormous iron hammer, which he raised high.
"No..." The monster roared defiantly and struggled violently, but none of it helped. It could only watch the hammer descend.
With a thunderous clang, the monster was spectacularly knocked unconscious.
Shen Bing's eyelid twitched, but his expression remained composed. "Not a bad method. Direct and effective!"
Lu Xian grinned without saying anything, then picked up the sensors and attached them to the monster's forehead.
Shen Bing was still quite apprehensive. He had no way of knowing whether the Consciousness-Reading Device could extract the monster's memories.
So far, the device had only been used on humans. Shen Bing genuinely didn't know whether it worked on animals or Demon Beasts like Little Doudou.
There wasn't a better option anyway, so he could only give it a try.
Half a minute later, Shen Bing watched black-and-white dots flicker across the screen like static on a television with no signal, and felt thoroughly defeated.
Sure enough, it doesn't work! What a pain in the ass.
