Shen Bing was even more astonished when he heard that.
The gene sequence with an unlimited capacity for fusion had already been enough to overturn everything Shen Bing thought he knew. He had long since assigned Clarence to study it in depth, determine how it worked, and ultimately put it to use.
Yet before Clarence could unravel that fusion gene, he had discovered another mysterious gene.
Was this little insect a walking treasure trove of genes?
As they spoke, Shen Bing arrived at the Biological Genetics Experiment Zone.
"Boss! You're here?" Clarence showed no surprise at Shen Bing's arrival. Perhaps he already knew Qiuqiu had notified him.
Shen Bing said, "Qiuqiu told me you've made a new discovery. Care to fill me in?"
Clarence scratched his head, his hair only slightly tidier than a bird's nest, and said, "Boss, I still haven't figured out exactly what this discovery is."
"Then start with what you do know," Shen Bing said.
Clarence said, "Here's what happened. While studying these little black insects, we found that most of their genes shared features with the biological genes humanity has already decoded. But one small segment takes a completely different form from a normal gene sequence—or, rather, from anything found in any organism we currently know of."
After saying that, Clarence gave an assistant a few instructions. The assistant quickly went to a nearby computer, and a screen lit up directly in front of Shen Bing.
An enlarged pair of chromosomes appeared on the screen, their overall shape forming a perfect helix.
Shen Bing had also familiarized himself with biological genetics.
His understanding was nothing like the cursory knowledge most people picked up. In a sense, it already amounted to research.
As he examined the pair of chromosomes, however, he noticed something unusual.
