"Make my wish come true? Heh!" The furry monkey sneered. He scratched his cheek, leaped onto a jutting sand dune, and crossed his hairy legs. "Then tell me what I want, and how you intend to give it to me."
"All you want, fellow Daoist, is to enter a certain person's school." Qingfeng smiled faintly. Seeing that the monkey was about to speak, he took a gleaming white Jade Pendant from his robes. "Isn't this what you seek?"
The monkey had been ready to mock him, but the sight of the White Jade gave him pause. A complicated look flashed through his eyes before he sneered again. "What a joke. You show me a Jade Pendant and claim it's what I want? I didn't care about the Magnetic Essence Light those two monsters were fighting over, let alone your worthless rock."
"This is no nameless trinket. It may not be a Magical Artifact or a Treasure, but it was carefully crafted. Every Great Hua Mountain Disciple receives one upon entering the sect. Each is bound to its bearer's lifeblood, carries their Daoist Name, and serves as a symbol of their place in the lineage."
Qingfeng glanced up at the monkey. Seeing his dark expression, he went on. "I know a little of your origins, too. You were once a wayward monkey on Great Hua Mountain. You saw True Person Soaring sitting there in contemplation of the Dao, and the sight enlightened you. You grasped the principles of heaven and earth, gained intelligence, and set your heart on seeking the Dao. But the path was hard. For all your struggles, you never found your way, and in the end you returned to where you began, hoping True Person Soaring would accept you as a disciple. Isn't that so?"
