The Luo Hotel stood like a castle, though it had no moat. Beyond its entrance was an iron gate made of bars as wide as a palm. A knight approached the wall and struggled to raise a placard. Someone above spotted it and shouted, "Open the gate! He's one of ours!" The knight wore bronze armor, but the armored skirt over his thigh had been torn away. A two-foot gash ran across the armor, a horrifying sight, and purplish-black blood welled steadily from it.

Boom! Before the knight could make it through the gate, he and his horse pitched to the ground. Warriors rushed out and hauled him to safety. His lips moved, and he uttered a few low syllables. Everyone's expression changed. They carried him into the hotel as the massive iron gate slowly descended. A man who appeared to be their leader steadied himself, rested a hand on the saber at his waist, and strode into the lobby.

Inside, the three Devil Kings who had just signed a mutual defense alliance were raising their cups in celebration. Sophia and the warrior burst in almost at the same time. "Enemy attack!" Before anyone could react, the ground lurched beneath their feet. All three Devil Kings changed color. Luo Qian had no idea what had happened, so Sophia came over and whispered, "Earth Tremor. It's a high-level anti-magic curse. They can't use long-distance magic teleportation arrays to escape now."

Luo Qian looked at the three Devil Kings' grim faces and cursed their disloyalty inwardly. Disaster's bearing down on me, and these 'good friends' who just clinked cups with me are only thinking about saving their own skins.

He gave a cold snort and asked Sophia, "An anti-magic curse? Does that mean no magic can be cast at all?" Sophia nodded.
