As the Iron-Arm Giant Ape's enormous corpse fell alongside Kumaka, Luo Qian stood above the battlefield, his robes fluttering and snapping in the wind. He looked effortlessly dashing and heroic. The charging beasts of the heavy unit stopped dead, staring in horror at the man who had killed an Iron-Arm Giant Ape—renowned for its defenses—with a single punch. A ridiculous sight unfolded: nearly five hundred hulking beasts raised their heads, all their eyes fixed on one tiny human.
Those five hundred giants had been frightened into standing still by one human. For a moment, not one dared take another step. Behind Luo Qian, Lu Kuangtao leaped forward with eight Seventh Rank Demonic Cultivators. Eight uncanny black figures traced perfect arcs into the beasts' ranks. Bones cracked across the field, and the beasts howled without cease. The battle was utterly one-sided. For all their immense size and apparent strength, the beasts could not withstand even a single exchange with Lu Kuangtao and his companions. Luo Qian had killed their commander in one blow, shaking their courage and blunting their momentum; Lu Kuangtao then led the elite Demonic Cultivators into the opening, sweeping through everything in their path.
Five hundred giant beasts were no small number, but they were not so many, either. With the Demonic Cultivators moving like ghosts, it took less than half an hour for five hundred little "mountains" to appear on the ground. Their handlers no longer cared what the instructors had taught them in their very first lesson as Beast Tamers: "A handler eats and sleeps with his beast; they live and die together." They abandoned their beasts and fled. Even having their heads chopped off by the soldiers policing the battle line seemed better than facing these terrifying enemies.
